A close friend’s wedding brought us to New York for the weekend and it couldn’t have been the more ideal dose of holiday charm / couple of days spent with old friends and some qt with my cutie before Christmas! The absolute best.
I don’t think we have been back in New York together around Christmas since we lived in the city so it was a real treat. The nostalgia! All of the bows!!… and wreaths in the restaurant windows. The trees on the streets and cute West Village stoops lined with garland. I got to cozy up with a couple of my best girlfriends and catch-up over lattes and glasses of wine… and Tanner and I snuck in a date the night before the wedding festivities. (We went to Raf’s again and it was the perfect cozy date night vibe I was craving ~ highly recommend sharing the chicken and rigatoni btw).
Ok, so a few things of note from this trip…
We wanted to stay at the newly renovated Hotel Chelsea and it was great. I’d bucket it next to the Orchard, Ludlow, Bowery, Greenwich Hotels (our absolute fave for a bit more of a splurge!). We lucked out with a room upgrade and were pleasantly surprised by the size (I believe we were in the balcony room?) which was huge for a New York hotel room. My husband who is somewhat of a hotel diva / loves a larger room / stays in New York all the time for work was very pleased. So if it checks off his boxes then you can for sure add it to your list. Also the location is nice and centrally located if you have plans to be both Downtown and Up. The hotel restaurant, Cafe Chelsea, has a great vibe in the evenings and the Library Bar was hopping as well and also great for catching up on some work emails in the afternoon.
The chicest sweater and scarf set from Toteme (beyond soft / luxurious and the embroidered detail really makes it feel special). Simplicity and effortlessness continues to be my mood when getting dressed. Leaning towards those timeless wardrobe staples I can rewear on repeat / restyle for years to come.
For our date night at Raf’s I wore this Doen dress (still available in the navy), tights since it was cooler and boots. Paired with these Dorsey earrings for a little bling. I brought one blazer to wear to the wedding (this is the one I wear all the time as it’s a nice oversized jacket style) and also for our date Friday night and styled it with this belt*.
* Note! the Khaite Benny belt is back in stock ~ run don’t walk (also avail here and here)! I’ve owned this belt for a couple years now and it’s proven to be such a fun one for styling. I like wearing it with jeans but have found myself wearing it around blazers or to cinch the waist of a sweater over dress combo even more. It always gives that right amount of edge to a look that I’m craving with the silver studs.
Next time you’re Uptown make an appointment at Attersee! The gorgeous line launched in 2021 and the showroom opened this past fall… if Attersee isn’t already on your radar it should be. Such a stunning showroom space filled with amazing antiques from the designer, Isabel’s, travels and it was so nice to see the collection in person. Similar to The Row / Toteme as far as luxurious materials / gorgeous timeless pieces that can all be styled together effortlessly. (They use deadstock fabrics from the same mills as Hermes and Loro Piana ~ but not quite at the same price-point yet).
I picked up this pouch bag in the blue satin. (I was tempted by the gorgeous black velvet pouch but I think the blue satin will be a nice year-round option to carry).
