Willow’s Big Girl Bed

I’ve had so much fun pouring love into Willow’s room over the past few weeks! She hasn’t been sleeping in her crib for months now (maybe the past 6?!). It’s been rough. Lots of sleepless nights of her ending up in our bed so it was time. Plus I can now pass off our crib to my sister / little niece who is about to transition into her own room!

I’ve been wanting to give Willow’s room a bit of a makeover as it was Rex’s nursery prior* and I didn’t change much at that time besides a new ivory and lavender Moroccan rug. So I wanted to make it feel more her. I was first inspired when I found this French Country Cream Iron Bed from Kathy Kuo Home. It reminds me of the bed my parents had growing up so it feels quite nostalgic to me! I just love the details of the iron and the vintage feel of it which goes with the wood paneling / older home charm of her room perfectly.

We pushed her little Moroccan checked pouf right up to her bed and now it’s the perfect step up for her to climb into bed. I will always love that colorful floor pouf!! It’s so fun.

During the Black Friday sales I snagged her bedding from Dôen, which you know is one of my favorite lines for dresses for her so it felt so perfect. I also found her this pink vintage quilted blanket and love the mixed pinks together. Feels very Willow to me! I just love that it’s all a bit of a nod to my childhood too with the quilted patterns.

The art in her room are prints from the SF MOMA, an artist in Berkley, Molly M. Designs, and a framed mini St. Frank textile.

The dresser was an oldie of Tanner’s from college… which I’m still debating whether or not to paint it but I think I’m too lazy for that at the moment, ha! I also am someone who loves mix-matched woods and things that don’t go perfectly. I think it adds to the charm!

I was also debating painting her entire room or wallpapering a wall but I just love how bright the white walls make her room feel… especially since it’s a small space. So it’s just a few changes for now but it’s sure made the room feel more her!

I had to get this Pink Iceland Poppy cutout by Molly M. Designs for her. It was the first piece I bought when I was planning to switch-up her room. She and Rex were so into the Icelandic Poppies I planted in our yard this past spring / summer. Whenever she spotted a new poppy blooming she would squeal and say “poppy mama!!” It’s such a sweet vivid summer memory of mine.

Willow is wearing a sweet dress from Dôen.
