A Weekend In LA & What I Wore

I try to get to LA once or twice a year for my art and design fix. Always fun dinner vibes and great art / design and of course, style watching and fashion. For a while there I was getting to LA much more often after moving back to the west coast but now with kids, a quick weekend down south once or twice a year fills my cup!

I am by no means an expert on the city and I just like to plan a few different things each trip to check that tourist / foodie box… or whatever art exhibit I have in mind. In fact, I usually plan my trips around the art exhibits I want to see and the neighborhood I’m staying in. This trip was just the weekend getaway my husband and I were craving… here’s what we did this visit!

Wearing |

Ear Cuff (warning, this is not very comfortable ~ I can only wear for a couple hours ~ I would go with a rad silver earring like these instead… or something smaller). Older Khaite Leather Jacket (similar ~ I’ve owned a couple years now and I always grab for it for date nights especially and traveling… I often wear it zipped as a top and it just makes the look). Skirt is a couple years old from Jil Sander (another cream date night skirt or also love). Boots (I haven’t wanted to wear anything else since getting them). Dorsey James Bezel necklace. Clutch is Jil Sander from two years ago (love a green bag).

Stay: Sunset Tower ~

is probably my favorite hotel in LA. It always checks my box for that old Hollywood glamour and vibe. I just love the history of the hotel… and if you’re lucky, a celeb sighting or two. Prior to booking we didn’t realize this weekend was the Grammys so we lucked out with a handful of celebrities staying / partying at the hotel… and a run-in with Nicole Richie who I just think is the cutest (she was gorgeous in person, of course). The rooms are older so this might not be a hotel for everyone… but they really take care of you here and it just has that moody cool vibe I love. If you follow me, we tend to all love the same vibe,… so you’ll be happy here. Oh and the Tower Bar is moody and perfect for a date night drink.

Eat: Gigi’s & Mother Wolf ~

Both delicious and fun vibey date nights. We couldn’t have had a better time! I tried to make resies at Chef Evan Funke’s newest restaurant, Funke, but couldn’t snag a reservation. So next time!

Hike: Griffith Observatory ~

I’ve always wanted to hike to the Hollywood sign so this checked my tourist box this trip and it was also nice to have an active Saturday morning.

Wearing | Dries Van Noten pants (these were my best winter sale score ~ here they are in green which I also equally love!)

Art / Design: LACMA & Future Perfect ~

this trip we did the LACMA and a visit to the Future Perfect. The Future Perfect is especially fun to check out if you’re like us, and in the middle of some home projects / looking for unique pieces! I love visiting their locations in New York and SF often too.

Shop: Dries Van Noten, Des Kohan, Melrose Place, Curve, Just One Eye ~

we popped into all of the usual LA suspects / walked along Melrose Place etc. But I think the two stores I loved checking out the most this trip for their edit was: Des Kohan (I finally tried on High Sport pants here and now I get the hype! So comfortable with a nice amount of stretch and they have a nice thickness to them making them both great for the office and out)… and Just One Eye (a very high end edit but such a rad boutique to check out with an incredible art collection inside too!). Also, the Dries store was a highlight for me as well as I’ve really been having a serious Dries crush over the past few months.
