10 Things December

Winter Napa Escape | Dec 7

December!.. Merry Merry!!

Okay so I have some catching-up to do around here… after one of the best Thanksgiving breaks (definitely my most restful in years) I’m feeling so grateful for all of the time with family and friends and the chance to slow down and soak up this season with Rex and Willow. We’ve already watched all of the Home Alone movies, our tree is up and I’m so thrilled it’s only the first week of December. This is always the busiest time of year, and I get so sad that it slips by all too quickly. So I’ve been trying my best to slow down when I can. Hope you’re able to slow down as much as possible and enjoy this season and your loved ones too!

I have one more big trip before really hibernating for this holiday season — I’m heading off to Paris (!!) for a girl’s trip and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ve been counting down the days for what feels like all year, and I can’t believe this trip is finally here. It’s going to be freezing (ha) — but magical. Paris is especially cute in winter! The Christmas markets! I also feel like I manifested this trip in a way… maybe I’ll have to save that story for later!

10 Things December

T and I got away for one quick night in Napa last week which was an actual dream. There’s just something extra special about Napa in the winter… it’s rather romantic. I like that it’s less touristy and you have most places almost to yourself. And if you’re looking for an ultimate spa / foodie getaway there’s no better place. We spent a night at Solage in Calistoga and had the absolute best date night. We were invited to experience their special caviar and champagne poolside cabana dining experience that’s taking place this season in collaboration with Jenni Kayne and we’ve both been talking about it ever since. The cabanas are heated and decked out with cozy Jenni Kayne attire, pillows and throws and they’re serving a five course caviar and sparkling pairing that is insanely delicious. I can’t even pretend to be a caviar aficionado but Tanner and I both agreed that this was amazing. If you’re looking for a really special winter date this was such a treat!

We stayed at Stanly Ranch earlier this summer and so it was nice to try another Auberge property in the area. You just can’t go wrong with Auberge! I loved the charm and quaint feel of Solage. It’s a smaller property and the heated pools at the spa were so nice to dip into in the morning before we had to head home.

This coat was one of my Black Friday sale scores (still available in all sizes on By Malene Birger here) and I couldn’t be more in love with the small brown check and fit. So timeless! By Malene Birger has become a huge brand crush of mine more so recently than ever — such a cool Scandinavian brand and I just love their styling.

Following our quick night in Calistoga we took the kids to breakfast with Santa on Saturday which officially put me in the holiday mood. It’s always so fun to get them dressed up and we now have a pretty comical family picture with Santa. A first for us!

And then I was hit with a cold and on a real struggle bus the rest of the weekend. Soup and sleep and snuggles with Rex and Willow. I was getting nervous about missing my flight to Paris but I’m at the airport as I’m typing and about to board so it’s official!!
