Girls Getaway in Healdsburg

Healdsburg has become a true happy place for my sister, cousins and I over the years. We’ve had many girls’ getaways, bachelorette celebrations, my cousin’s wedding (and my sister’s wedding nearby), family house rentals and wine tasting-filled days. Healdsburg has a sweet little downtown square to walk around with great restaurants, quaint shops and is all around an extra special area of wine country.

A house we once rented was just up the hill from the The Madrona and after passing by the gates many times we were curious to stay at the historic estate. Especially now that it’s been redesigned.

Flash forward to this past weekend: we couldn’t have adored The Madrona more! It’s a total gem of a boutique hotel. Such a fun art-filled vibe. The grounds are peaceful and charming… food was delish and the friendly staff really made our stay. It was the perfect spot for a girls getaway.

The Madrona is a stunning estate nestled in the heart of Sonoma County, surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards, and towering trees. The gorgeous historic architecture, first blooms of spring around the property, and quiet peaceful setting immediately set the tone for a relaxing getaway. Healdsburg, and wine country in general, have that way of instantly transporting you for the weekend.

The entrance is adorned with a large sign with the name of the inn and a beautiful flower arrangement on either side. A stone path leads up to the entrance, where two white rocking chairs invite guests to sit and enjoy the scenery.

The original buildings on the estate were completed in 1881 and later converted into an inn in 1981.

The hotel was just transformed in the past year by designer Jay Jeffers and now has such a fun, quirky, maximalist, art-filled vibe. I loved the blend of vintage and original antiques with the more modern light fixtures and features.

There’s so much eye candy to take in around the entire property! (All of the art is curated by Dolby Chadwick Gallery.)

In the foreground, there is a wrought-iron table and chairs with a large umbrella, offering guests a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the garden. In the background, a trellis covered in climbing vines can be seen, adding to the beauty and tranquility of the space.

Upon arrival we explored the property’s gardens… the sun was setting and it gave me that first dose of spring energy! I loved the sweet orange grove especially with the twinkly lights. The Madrona has such a serene and tranquil atmosphere that makes it easy to unwind and recharge. Which was perfect for us, as we are all tired moms looking to do just that! Ha.

We changed for dinner, dressing up a bit, and sat at the bar first for cocktails. I love my martinis and this one was dangerously good.

Dinner was also delicious. I ordered the burger which the staff told us was one of the best burgers in the area. And my cousin can’t stop talking about her cod so now I’m going to have to come back just to order it. Breakfast the next morning was a beautiful continental spread which is always perfect for us. We enjoyed a light bite (granola, yogurt and croissants) before taking off for Flowers Winery where we spent the day and later walked around the square. Before leaving the area we grabbed a late lunch at Roof 106 at The Matheson for pizza which was delish.

Besides the charm of the property, the staff was so friendly and lovely and truly made our stay! It’s a true gem in the heart of Sonoma County, and I can’t wait to return.

The tasting room at Flowers is absolutely beautiful. I can’t recommend a visit enough. You’ll love. And another Healdsburg favorite winery of ours if you’ve never been, or next time you’re in the area, is Reeve. We are all members and love the laidback vibe. It’s always our fave to end the day at (or spend the day at)… and they serve pizza which always hits the spot when drinking wine.

Another Healdsburg escape is in our hopefully near future again soon!
