Mexico Photo Diary

When going through the photos I took during our recent trip to Mexico I realized two things: 1) It was less relaxing, and more spring-break like than these pictures make it out to be (it was a Cancun wedding with some of our closest college friends after all). And 2) I didn’t style my hair once and went almost the entire weekend makeup free. Both signs that you’re truly on vacay right?!

Besides the fact that by day three we all felt like we were in a perpetual Groundhog Day (the party never ends when you get this many friends together), and the hotel’s all inclusive meals reminded us of Benson (our college cafeteria), it’s pretty awesome that even though we’ve been out of college for 6+ years now we all picked up right where we left off.

Wearing: Helmut Lang Knit. Mara Hoffman Swimsuit. Otte Shorts (similar). Vintage Scarf. Norma Kamali Sunglasses.

I think one of the main highlights from the trip (for me) was that I didn’t come back horribly sunburnt. I thought I’d for sure come back fried so I guess that Mexican sunshine was seriously on our side, or we did a crazy awesome job at reapplying the spf. It was a group effort! Although I do have to share that the groom got a pretty awesome “Batman” shaped pink mark on his chest. You’re so cool Trav.

I think this might be my favorite photo of my guy and I at the moment. And it was a selfie! He never lets me take couple selfies so I had to post this one to instagram while he was taking a nap otherwise it would have never been allowed, ha!

What I wore to the ceremony: Calypso St. Barth Dress. J.Crew Hat.

Can you believe this gorgeous bride jumped in the pool in her dress? Coolest bride ever? I doubt most girls would…

Speaking of sans makeup, this seemed like the perfect time to test out Burt’s Bees new skin brightening line. When it comes to travel, one of my main packing tips is to always travel with beauty samples. Then at the end of the trip I’m usually finished with all of the products I brought, and I don’t have to worry about any large bottles exploding in my bags.

My daily beauty routine while on the trip consisted of splashing some cool water on my face, followed by a thin layer of the Burt’s Bees brightener, and a heavy dose of spf. I have a zillion freckles and sunspots so I’m crossing my fingers this continues to even out my skin tone over the next couple of weeks.

And, of course, besides no sunburns, awesome friends, the promise of a brighter complexion, and the most-fun-pool-party wedding ever, the other highlight was this gorgeous view and the crystal clear blue water.
