Transitioning | 3 Fall Essentials

I’ve had some requests for more style posts and of course fall is the season that excites me the very most! Soo… I’m coming out of my summer-mode to bring you some fashion thoughts. Maybe I’ll have to make this a bit of a series!

Here are some notes on what’s feeling fresh this season and three classic fall essentials / looks that I’m wanting to recreate. (I actually just went through my closet this past weekend to assess, organize and see what’s missing). Now we just need some cooler weather so I can put on my oversized knits! Ha.

When it comes to fall fashion this season there are a few timeless brands (Celine, Totême, The Row) and styles (90s, looser denim and slip dresses) that I’ve been inspired by the most for styling ideas. I’ve been streamlining my closet over the past few years as I’m out of the on-the-floor-with-a-baby / breastfeeding stage–(still in the chasing toddlers stage ;P) but I’ve been attempting to elevate my style towards more timeless classics and less trendy. I’ve become much more thoughtful about what I actually wear on a daily basis, with and without my kids, and investing in pieces I know I’ll have in my closet for years. So with all that in mind… here are three fall essentials to feel fresh and current but that are timeless investments for your wardrobe that you’ll wear for years to come.

Denim-wise, I’m really into a high-rise straight leg and wider cut styles. I live in my Totême straight leg denim (and recently bought a new pair for this season in the dark black). This summer I also lived in my B Sides jeans and Re/Done denim for more of a vintage / Levis’ look. Both are casual classic styles you can’t go wrong with. And I know the wider 90’s style denim isn’t for everyone, but I’m a fan. If you’re looking to try a pair, my favorites are from Agolde, Citizens of Humanity and Khaite.

The loafer is big this fall. It’s a closet staple that you probably already own but if not, is a style that will make your looks feel of-the-moment. I have a pair I love from Freda Salvador (I also have this style that I wear all the time) and also love and own this style from Porte Paire. A classic splurge pair I’m drooling over this season is from Celine. And a classic fall boot style I will forever love is a Chelsea or lug sole boot.

Lastly, let’s chat sweaters. Topping my fall wishlist at the moment is an oversized sweater and leggings moment (with a flat or great boot) and a collared v-neck sweater look. I’ve also been crushing on this look from Ciao Lucia with a V-neck sweater styled over a slip.
