Playing Forever Favorites: Isabel Marant

Circling to back to my last day in Pari!… in Isabel Marant. You know my long time love for the designer… oh my wedge sneaker days in New York! — Well I have to say this trip reignited my love affair for the Parisian it-girl brand. And I happened to see Isabel herself in the Marais which was pretty fun! What are the chances?! She was with her husband and bag designer, Jérôme Dreyfuss, and they just looked like the coolest French couple together. She was of course effortless in head-to-toe Isabel (wearing this shearling jacket which I dream of, layered with an ivory zip-up and wide-leg jeans). I think I’ll forever expect to spot her in the Marais now on my future trips.

I love the fit of Isabel dresses so much. They’re a wear to any occasion kind of dress which is what makes them so great — easily dressed up and down and just so flattering. The cut is great for layering as well with a sweater on top, worn with one of her statement belts and of course with iconic Isabel Marant boots. I wore the dress with tights* and boots while out and about (layered with a sweater and coat) and changed later that evening into these Khaite Seneca heels. Which, I couldn’t love this sculptural heel more. A true piece of art and very comfortable. I also love them in white and red as well which happen to be on sale and I think are such a fun pop of color to wear year round. Also, Khaite really made me love tights with heels this season. I love the look of the white heel with a black tight — so cool styled like this here.

I bought an Isabel Marant dress (similar on sale, more sizes here) on my last trip to Paris (4ish years ago) and it’s hands down my most worn / asked about dress. It has such a unique print and I always get so many compliments on it. Isabel dresses for me, are those dresses when I don’t know what to wear… that trusty standby that always feels special, is flattering and I know I’ll feel comfortable in. We all need a few of those in our wardrobe! A splurge for sure but you can also find them on sale and on The Real Real if you hunt around.

Speaking of other Isabel hero items from my closet — I’ve owned this jacket in a green color-way for years (similar) and it’s such a trusty throw on staple of mine. The ideal fall / winter to grab for in the mornings and wear over workout clothes, sweats, to school drop off, over jeans etc… I love it in this season’s ecru color so much (a great sale score right now). I wear a size 34 in Isabel which is a US 2 (true to European sizing). But this style jacket runs big so you could also size down. Another great one!

While shopping in Paris I also tried on this sweater which is so unbelievably soft — I can’t even tell you. And this knit in the purple which isn’t usually my favorite color but Paris had me craving more color and this one felt cool with jeans. Rounding up some more of my favorite Isabel Marant pieces this season and sale finds that are just too good! Like this skirt which is on my wishlist and how rad is this cotton jacket that can also be worn as a vest? And some additional Isabel-inspired pieces to get the look.
