Cotton-Poplin Styles For the Heat

Cotton-Poplin Styles For the Heat

Cotton-poplin styles are my best friend in the heat of summer. I have been craving a longer midi length skirt and found this style that fit all of my criteria! It’s perfect! Something more conservative that I can wear for any and all in-between casual events and outings (those always feel like the hardest dress codes to figure out for some reason!!). It has pockets!, is very breezy and has a nice elastic waist band making it very comfy and just an overall easy spring / summer style. My only complaint is that it has a bit more material (around the sides) than I was originally wanting in a skirt like this… on my frame at least… but has by far been my best find of the styles I’ve tried! So it’s a keeper for me and a classic piece I’ve been missing in my summer wardrobe rotation.

I’m styling it now with my leather jacket (and sneakers for comfort and a bit of a tomboyishness) but come summer all you’ll want to wear with it is a simple top and sandals. You could wear it with the matching poplin top of course or a simple tank (I will be wearing with this one for sure!)!

And maybe you already have a poplin dress or skirt in your closet that you can pull out now and pair with your spring sweaters.

Almost every brand makes cotton-poplin styles ~ which you can find at a range of price points but just like cashmere… you can tell the difference in the quality and this poplin is next level and truly cooling on the skin. I’ll be ready for you 100*+ days!!!

juxtaposition outfit idea

I’m all about the juxtaposition when it comes to styling and when a cotton-poplin piece feels more feminine (like this dress) I like to pair mine with a sneaker.

J.Crew has some great classic poplin shirts (30% off right now too ~ I would size up for a more oversized fit). These also make for easy swimsuit coverups in the summer for that effortless borrowed from the boys vibe.

This shirt from the Victoria Beckham x Mango collab is another cool breezy option (literally cool too)… the back is the best part. So much styling / great layering potential here. The back would look interesting layered underneath your jacket or sweater too.

I also love a cropped shirt style!
