5 Favorites Now | Hit Refresh

This month my unintentional (oh so January) theme has been hitting refresh––cleansing and editing in all of the ways. I’ve realized I’m sort of a continual editor (year-round) but especially always love a fresh start to the new year. Well this month I leaned into the new year reset vibes and I have to say I’m feeling the refreshed energy in all of the ways! I hope you are too. From healthier eating again (didn’t totally give up wine but cut back during the week which is an area I’ve majorly slipped this year), gave my closet a good clean-out (Rex and Willow’s too), did some re-organizing around the house, simplified my beauty bag, put myself on a media diet… the list goes on.

Something I also did that is a bit of a January cliché but whatever, I love them––I made a 2021 vision board. I love to collage and make vision boards and ironically I never made one for 2020. Busy mom life got me I guess. But I found some of the cutouts I had clipped back in December of 2019 and it was pretty hilarious what I was envisioning for 2020. So here we go 2021, all of my fingers are crossed for you!!

Glowing Skin

My skin had been looking rather winter-dull and blah, but just making a few changes and focusing on drinking a lot more water has made all of the difference. It’s these little things that I obviously know by now as a mid-30 year old but it’s easy to get off track.

Here’s what’s working for me:

TONS of water and liquids
Cleaner eating again (more greens and less wine)
Extra exfoliation (I love this GoopGlow peel!)
Extra moisturizing (currently loving this combo: GoopGenes Face Oil and Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream)
Also I’ve been drinking this Glow mix in the afternoons (it’s packed with probiotics for gut health and glowy skin)

Clean Eating

I’m not doing anything wild––but just a few swaps, like trying not to drink wine during the week and adding more greens into my diet has made all of the difference. And then I did sign up with Sakara Life for a few days next week which I’m really excited about. I’ve done their program a few times before and always love how I feel afterwards. I find that it’s a nice way to hit reset.

Also! I’ve been binge-listening to Sakara Life’s podcast this week! So many great wellness interviews.

Unplugging

I realized this past fall how sensitive I am and affected by what I read and watch. Just finally becoming aware of this and putting myself on a bit of a media diet has helped my anxiety so much. And it’s helped me get out of a bit of a funk that I had been in.

Instead––I’ve been turning more to (offline) reading, discovering new-to-me artists, and painting with Rex and Willow

Style Edit

One thing I also did this month that I have never really done in the past but think is super helpful if you’re wanting a bit of a style refresh––I made a personal style inspiration board on Pinterest. This way, if you want to make a purchase then you can check back to your inspo and see if the piece matches your vision… or for styling ideas. It should help you when tempted by trendy of-the-moment items that maybe you most likely do not need.

Beauty Bag

I simplified my beauty bag this month–-tossing anything I haven’t used in awhile. You know I love a minimal, clean makeup routine and one line I’ve fallen for this year that I’ve gotten to play around with a bit more recently is Westman Atelier by makeup artist, Gucci Westman. If you’re not familiar with Gucci you have to follow her–-she’s adorable and I love her makeup videos, especially Makeup with Friends. Westman Atelier is one of those lines that is packed with ingredients that are good for your skin so you can feel good about the makeup you’re wearing. It’s creamy and hydrating and everything is buildable and fool-proof to apply (I’m not a makeup pro so this is key for me, ha).

You should start by trying the foundation sticks––but I’m also loving the blush sticks and the makeup brushes (which are all sustainably made by the oldest brush maker in Japan).
