Our weekend stay at the 1 Hotel San Francisco

SF Weekend | Our Stay at the 1 Hotel SF

We love our San Francisco staycations and spent this past weekend in the city for a family celebration which was so fun! After a few non-stop rainy weeks we lucked out with the perfect SF sunny weather and it was just the best.

We were invited to stay at the newly opened 1 Hotel San Francisco this time which I have been so curious to check it out after hearing great things from friends. And we truly had the best stay — I give my stamp of approval of a great option to stay in the city for sure!

The luxury sustainable and eco-friendly hotel chain feels so perfect for San Francisco and is always dependable in design, service and food (I’ve stay at in the Central Park location in New York as well). The SF Embarcadero & Mission street location is ideal for walkability (it was always a popular afterwork hotel bar / hang spot when I was living in SF back in the day too)… it’s such a great option for work travel or if going to the Giants game, the Ferry Building, Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz etc. For us, it was an especially ideal location this weekend with kids and wanting to take them to the Exploratorium.

After checking in on Saturday we walked across the street for lunch at the Ferry Building. Saturday is also the farmers market which is always a crowd pleaser. Also, just easy with kids because you can find everything. You can’t go wrong with Gott’s Roadside which is where we ended up. And of course we had to get treats from Miette and Blue Bottle coffee pick-me-ups for T and I. We walked a couple of Piers down to the Exploratorium for Rex and Willow.

I hadn’t been since I was a kid so it was fun to go back and I was so impressed! It was a huge hit. I’m looking forward to taking them more as they get older as there’s so much for all ages. In my mind I also wanted to do Tunnel Tops. This visit but we just went with the pace of the day and R & W ended up spending more time then we thought at the Exploratorium. Which honestly was just really nice to slowly walk back to our hotel, lounge and rest up a bit before dinner.

Saturday evening we ate at the 1 Hotel’s restaurant, Terrane. It is a delicious organic / locally and sustainably-sourced menu with plenty of options for everyone. I am such a huge veggie fan. So, I loved the cauliflower and brussel sprouts especially, and we also shared their flatbreads to start. We ordered pizza for the kids and the scallops and steak for our mains. Everything is easily shared which is nice if you’re in a larger group or going to grab bites after work.

The weather is always cooler in SF, especially if down by the water. So, I always wear layers but it ended up being such a nice day! Still, I’m always cold and was glad I had my longer coat (despite my kids peeling off their layers). Ha, always the case.

The sunrises and sunsets in SF just can’t be beat. I love a city view of the Bay and Golden Gate Bridges so much.

When I’m in a hotel I always take advantage of that robe life — taking a shower and having time to lounge around before dinner is just the best.

And Bay Area based brand, Coyuchi, is currently running a giveaway with the 1 Hotels SF. If you’re not familiar, Coyuchi make the best waffle knit robes. Offering the ultimate SF getaway. You can find more details about it here!
