Abbot Kinney | Venice Beach

The line between work and pleasure is quite blurry for me these days as I love what I do, but after finishing up the last of my appointments for Syllabus on Friday I was beyond excited to explore more of Los Angeles (and head to the beach!). Venice has been at the top of my list for sometime now, and I was in my element perusing the cool shopping street that is Abbot Kinney. That, and sandy beach toes on a warm sunshiny day in January–heaven.

As Diane Vreeland said–”the eye has to travel”–and Venice gave me just the refresh I was in need of.

We made sure to pop into each and every store–and I of course took note of the beautiful displays and curation. Two of my favorites that can’t be missed: Figue (pictured above)–this bohemian lifestyle pop-up from NYC is a must for unique, one-of-a-kind finds from the the owner’s travels. I can’t stop thinking about the cute leopard sneaks below and a particular embellished military vest that will probably haunt my dreams for sometime to come.

And equally as gorgeous: The Piece Collective. I loved how very bright and airy this space was, and the mix of eclectic home goods and gifts with apparel. Also, the girl working in the shop on the day we visited had such undeniably cool style. It was an instant girl crush moment for me.

A few additional boutique favorites of mine along Abbot Kinney: Heist, Satine (mainly for the jewelry), Principessa (for the bohemian in me), and Burning Torch (gorgeous up-cycled designs)

In-between shopping and the beach we made sure to grab lemonades (at Lemonade) and tried to get into the ultra popular Gjelina (which came highly recommended by almost everyone I’ve ever talked to about Venice so you should go!) but decided the wait wasn’t worth it at the time as we wanted to keep exploring. We ended up at Casalinda for burritos which was just our speed. Gjelina date next time (and/or: Salt Aire, Gjusta Bakery, or Superba Food which also came highly recommended).

The end to the day and weekend: a stunning sunset on the beach. (Later followed by more mexican food at Gracias Madre on Melrose).
