Hi friends! Sharing bits from my weekend because it’s the old-school part of blogging that I will forever love. I also find that I have a lot I want to share with you and love snapping photos of my kids so this gives me a place to put them… and my words! Thanks for indulging me! ;P
I’m flying solo mom’ing this week while Tanner is on a yearly trip with his dad, so I’m trying to fill my cup with as many self-care things as possible to get me through. Going to bed early, neighborhood walks, reading after the kids are down, and a slow paced weekend was in my favor. Our Saturday’s have been filled with Rex’s soccer games and between recently bingeing Ted Lasso and watching four year olds run around chasing the soccer ball I just can’t handle the cuteness.
Okay other things of note lately have been: gardening with Rex, finishing Sally’s Rooney’s, Beautiful World, Where Are You (more to say in the post about this), live music again (ah fills me up so much!), a love for getting dressed again and to reinvent your style and just soaking up this time with Rex and Willow while T is gone.
Remember my love for Lady Banks roses? The tiny yellow roses that bloom in the spring? I found them at Green Acres locally here recently, and we planted them on either side of our garage this last weekend. I’m hoping I can train them to climb up and hide our garage, which is a bit of an eye-sore. If you’re looking for a climbing rose, another great option are: Sally Holmes Roses. I was so torn between these two but I have heard Lady Banks are easier to train. So we shall see, I’ll report back! I also planted mine in these pots which I’m hoping they’ll do okay in.
My cuties! On day four currently without Tanner over here… tired but I always enjoy the solo time with them so much too! I’m trying to fill my cup up as much as I can to get me through––eating healthy, walks in the neighborhood, time with friends (I had help Friday night so I could go to a birthday party), and going to bed early.
We’ve been going through a bit of a sleep issue with Willow. I still haven’t quite figured it out––but I think she’s been afraid of something and having scary dreams. She feels too young (almost 2.5) to be scared of “monsters” but she’s ended up in bed with us every night for the past couple of months now. I hate complaining about sleep but we were in such a great place for a while there (long out of the newborn months) that the lack of sleep after months can really get to you. Fingers crossed for us! I think with an older brother she’s just exposed to more things (lots of dinosaurs in our world)… that Rex was never exposed to her at her age.
Vince makes some of my favorite basics / layers. I have this top in both black and cream and it’s such a pretty one and a fall staple of mine for sure. I’m trying not to wear this one around my kids so I can keep it nice. Perfect to pair with skirts or nice pants for an evening date night look or is just a chic work layering essential.
Also wearing this pair of relaxed boyish fitting denim. The Eva, in the Mirja wash––and I love them! If you’re looking for a straight / wider leg this is a cool one. It’s a super high-rise and I always size down in Citizens / Agolde.
As mentioned, I logged in some reading hours this weekend and finished my book: Sally Rooney’s Beautiful World, Where Are You. I have a lot of thoughts but in a nutshell ;)… it was my least favorite of her books but I will read anything Sally writes because I just love her writing style. I skimmed the letter writing chapters and found it slower to get into… / not quite what I wanted it to be, but in conclusion I enjoyed and if you’re a Sally fan I think you will too. I was so happy with the ending.
Normal People is still my favorite though (that show was my obsession last year, along with Paul Mescal!).
Wearing Tkees flats––they sent these to me for a partnership and I have to say, they’re very comfortable! I’ve been a long time fan of their sandals but this was the first time I’ve tried their slides.
You can get 10% Tkees if you shop using this link.
Okay this is the most luxurious knit ever––it is a splurge for sure, I had a bit of a credit to use towards it but I can’t rave about it enough and will be living in it this fall. My collared v-neck knit dreams! Reminds me of my mom which I keep realizing my style is morphing more and more towards my own mom’s over the past couple of years. But gosh I’m just drooling over everything Khaite and Toteme this season and want to fill my whole closet with their essentials. Such timeless fall staples to have in your closet for years.
Speaking of shopping, I’m so thrilled to be working a bit with Mytheresa this season and am looking forward to sharing more finds with you from them soon. They have the ultimate luxury edit!
Fall Wish-list’ing
More from my gardening adventures with Rex… we started planted these roses along our side fence and have yet to finish the job. He’s very into gardening but gets side tracked so we took a mini break to play. But I’m so in love with my pots from Green Acres, locally!
Okay that’s it for now, more fall style to come! Getting back into a regular blogging schedule again… I hope!
