Over the Weekend |

Highlights from the weekend all revolved around food: Saturday Midtown Farmers Market and sitting at the bar and eating bagels at Good News Wines with Rex and Willow.

T’s BBQ hamburgers (and setting the table with the placemats I brought back from Mexico).

Sunday Brunch at Casa (order the pancakes for the table to share!).

What I wore: We’ve lucked out with some cooler sweater weather mornings (I spent most of the weekend in this pullover and wide leg jeans) but another heat wave is coming for us…

Additional weekend highlights / snaps include: afternoon naps and some home renovations that have been exciting to see finally coming together after months of inspiration pulling / planning (I’ll be sure to share more soon!). Nili Lotan launched handbags and this leather evening clutch is a beauty! Farmers Market florals that are just the wild weed look I prefer.

The Look | If you’re looking for an easy lightweight summer pullover this one is perfection. It’s just the light layer you want in the summer… perfectly boxy too! I just love a navy stripe. I’m wearing XS… and as always you can use my code for 15% off anything Jenni Kayne: ALICIA15

I also took this new wide leg denim style (more sizes here) from Citizens of Humanity for a test drive this weekend. At first I wasn’t too sure how I felt about the look of the tie waist but after wearing them… I’m a fan! The wider styles tend to be extra big on me and the tie is a nice way to wear this style and keep them up / without the need of a belt. And now somehow the tie feels cool?!

* Note: Don’t forget to size down one size in Citizens of Humanity and their sister brand, Agolde

As someone who loves to cook, I’ll be honest, I haven’t been that inspired in the kitchen lately.

Turns out a trip to the farmers market will turn that around! I took Rex and Willow to the Midtown Farmers Market Saturday morning and couldn’t believe how busy it was! So fun to see… as I probably haven’t been to that one in over a year? Gosh! We picked up some veggies, the best cherries I’ve had all summer and edible flowers (which the kid’s remembered I used to toss into salad’s all the time but again, haven’t in a while). I’ve really let things slip around here… but the edible flowers worked if you’re looking for a trick to get your kids interested in eating salad!

We grilled, made flat bread, opened a chilled bottle of Riesling and I pulled out my placemats that I bought in Mexico. They made me so happy that I’m sad I only brought back a set of four. This just means I’ll have to go back and pick up another set so I have enough for when guests are over. I think a Mexican-inspired dinner with friends needs to happen soon!

The glass tumblers are also made in Mexico (from St. Frank). They come in a number of colors and are my favorite to pull out every spring / summer. They’re also great to set out for guests when hosting because the glass is so thick / they’re not too precious.
