Date Night

After sharing this look / top from this past weekend ~ I’ve been thinking about those date night heroes in my closet that I pull for time and time again. A great bodysuit, a sheer knit top… to go with your trusty pair of denim or black skirt, and topped with a great jacket or blazer.

I’ve found over the years that when I buy a one-off statement piece that has “a moment” I’m easily over it. This goes with prints and the louder pieces which is why I tend to stick to the more classic investment pieces that I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of. I usually jazz up the look with my accessories (a cool belt)… or boots! Love a rad boot (these are super comfortable too).

Wearing | Older Blazer (similar). Older Top (similar). Jeans. Boots. Clutch.

Now all that to say, I definitely crave those more special tops / pieces that have that wow factor and make your old jeans feel new again too. But I walk the line between a statement piece and thinking about how much wear I’ll get out of it for the cost. So here is some date night dressing inspiration… and possible ways to restyle those staples that I’m sure we already have in our closets.

A couple looks I’m loving right now for a date:

  1. Jeans (my go-to on a date night is the Abigail or the Danielle*) with a semi-sheer top, blazer and statement boot or flat (I held off for over a year from the Alaia flats but finally caved and now I get the hype! They’re super comfy and give everything that touch of edge. I’m looking forward to wearing them more this season!).
  2. A bodysuit with an interesting skirt (an ivory one always calls my name or I thought this skirt was a fun switch-up ~ I’m not usually into floral appliqué but this one is speaking to me). I’d probably top the look off with a leather jacket and boots… depending on where I’m going. And silver accessories.
  3. I really love the look of this bomber jacket and think it would be a nicer jacket option over a pant or knit dress.
