5 Things | Jan 10

Very much still in that full-swing cozy January hibernation mode over here! I always love this slower post-holiday pace… but I’m really trying to motivate myself this week to get into a better work routine now that Rex and Willow are back in school. Currently sitting by the fire with a cup of tea next to me as I pull together a bit of style inspo… and try to get excited about January dressing. (Enter sarcasm).

Wearing: House lounge attire (I live in these if you’re in need of a lounge refresh, also this alpaca sweater is so good!) * my code is still: ALICIA15 for Jenni Kayne

Into: Mixing browns, black and navy. Stacked pinky rings and I want to swap my black nails for a clean nude manicure asap!

Watched: Priscilla & Saltburn (um, hiii Jacob Elordi but also!, have you seen Saltburn yet?!! Woah. Definitely a twisted thriller of a satire… gave me Talented Mr. Ripley vibes but omg you almost have to get through the uncomfortable scenes and watch for the Saltburn Estate!! Dreams.)

Read: zero books have been read lately but instead I’ve had a lot of great friend and family time over this holiday season / break which has been the absolute best. I’m honestly not ready for the celebratory and cozy of this winter season to end…

That said… as much as I love the cozy vibes of winter. I’m always a bit stumped as to what I want to wear at the start of the year. This week has been COLD so I’ve been resorting to how I would dress when I lived in New York. For pilates / neighborhood walks I’ve needed a beanie for the first time and have been doing the sweatpants over my yoga pants * trick.

* my FAVE yoga pants are currently on sale if you’re in need of a refresh. I love these because they have pockets and they’re super soft.

collage of 5 things for January

Style Mood | January is all about the basics for me.

I’m not sure if you’re feeling in that January style slump as well. But, often whenever I pair everything back and simplify ~ the most classic looks always feel good to me this time of year. (But adding a bit of something interesting to make the look you … accessories, jewelry, color).

We just finished up some home remodel projects (adding more closet space). It has meant I’ve spent this entire last week reorganizing my clothes / shoes. It was the best way to kick off the New Year. You know I love a seasonal closet edit. But especially at the beginning of the year as a way to think about what I wore the most last year. Also, what I’m feeling excited about in my closet / what might need replacing etc.

Okay now for 5 Things of late…

Comfy Bralette

January is always that time of the year I buy a few new pairs of underwear / bras. I just ordered these bralettes in nude and black. They’re currently on sale (so comfy!). And great to work out in which is what I was really in need of.

That Robe Life

I’m all about that robe life and this month especially ~ so, if you’re in need of a new robe this one is a dream and finally was restocked (more sizes* and colors here and here)!

Warning: you’ll have a very hard time changing out of it.

* I own in size 1

Off-White Denim

White / off-white denim always feels fresh this time of year and I’m happy straight leg (a good relaxed black pair) and wider leg jeans are in style as they’re just so comfy and forgiving.

I’m grabbing for all of those baggier styles right now.

Easy Crewnecks For Layering

Easy crewneck style sweaters that can be layered and tucked into jeans have been my go-to. J.Crew has a number of colors and they’re on sale too. I like to style mine with a white tee showing underneath.

Accessorizing with Belts

Whenever I’m bored with my look I grab for this belt ~ a few more sizes / variations of this style here and another belt brand I love for a touch of edge.

This belt is definitely pricey but I’ve found over the past year or so that I’ve owned it that it’s the perfect way to restyle those closet staples. Not just with denim, but belting blazers and cinching the waist of sweaters layered over dresses / skirts.
