I’ve always found such a spark of creativity in capturing the small moments. And finding / creating beauty in the everyday.
Ever since Rex was born, when I lost myself in motherhood a bit, I found that being behind the camera lens brought me out of whatever mood I was in. Motherhood, work stress… adulting, and life in general can drag us down at times and feel overwhelming… but the camera has a way of bringing you into those present moments. Evoking that sense of calm… at least, for me, when I need it the most.
Hoping this post brightens anyone’s day who might need it! xx
I find so much joy in finding the beauty…
And whenever I’m feeling blah and can’t shake it (like yesterday) … a quick clean around the house does the trick. Tanner has been traveling and we had multiple birthday parties, dinners out, kid events and sports… our house was a mess. I needed a day to pick up the pieces, buy the grocery store flowers and dive into some new home decor books.
Mid-Week Mood Boost
I’m so affected by a space / our space. So when the house is a mess I feel off. As soon as I did a quick speed clean… my mood completely shifted.
I just picked up New York-based stylist, Colin King’s new book, Arranging Things… and while I was at it, I pre-ordered my friend Caitlin Flemming’s book that comes out this fall, Sense of Place: Design Inspired By Where We Live (photographed by my close friend, Stephanie Russo). I can’t wait to get my hands on it after hearing all about the process and their travels together to photograph these incredible homes.
Flowers, motherhood, and orange
Our wisteria popped back this past week which always makes me happy (and falls around Willow’s birthday every year)… bringing back all of the sweet memories spent gardening while pregnant with her and the backyard lawn hangs when she was a newborn.
I’ve hit this new stage of motherhood that is keeping me equally busy but I also feel like I’ve gotten myself and more of my time back again. It’s felt really good and also has its own challenges with all of their sports / activities / school… and all of the things!
We went from summer (last week) back to winter this week (our weather can’t clearly decide what season it wants to be in). I’ve spent all week in this Marfa Stance jacket. I love that it’s reversible, and I’ve been wearing it more on the orange side lately because I’m craving color.
