For the Love of Fashion: A Few NYFW Highlights

Working straight through the weekend will quickly throw you off (it took me a few minutes to realize what day it actually was today), but the good news is I’m going strong… and the week is half way through. I’m literally working for next weekend, ha! Attending this fashion week on the reporting side, rather than pure enjoyment as I have in the past has been exciting, exhausting, and in my personal opinion, the best way to experience it. Interviewing the designers backstage about their collections, seeing the fabrics and beauty looks up-close, and then watching it all come to life on the runway makes me fall more in love with fashion and really appreciate the energy that goes into these shows.

I wanted to be to sure to share with you a few of my fashion week highlights… like that one time I met my favorite designer, Phillip Lim, and played the ultimate fan girl card. Or the chat I had with former J.Crew designer, Marissa Web, about super heroes, the 2014 spring color trends I’ve been spotting (lots and lots of black + white!), and my favorite collection I’ve seen so farWes Gordon. (Cool newer designer to keep an eye out for—he’s such a cutie too!)

And a few additional highlights ~ most of which you may have seen on instagram.

A look from day 1 + two show favorites: Phillip Lim and The Row.

Beauty: The neon orange lip at Rag & Bone, a mix of Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Mischievous (out in January) and Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Carnival (launching in spring ’14) + interesting eyes from backstage Derek Lam + MM6 Maison Martin Margiela.
And a few non-fashion week snaps from this past weekend. From top left: Dinner out on Saturday night with close friends who were in town from California, the coolest camo pants ever, a fun leopard print sunglasses collab (Jimmy Choo + Carrera), and a cute little red bike.
My favorite looks from the J.Crew presentation. Wide leg white pants (will be big for spring), prints on prints, and splatter paint cargos, but of course!

And last but not least, Dannijo jewels to *drool* for.
