Growing up with a sister meant many nights in spent painting our nails while wearing a green face mask or biore pore strip on the bridge of our nose. We’ve been having these mini at-home-spa nights for as long as I can remember, but I believe it was around high school when we coined the phrase: “beautification nights.” To this day we still call any sister beauty pampering by this name and even though I’m married, most nights when my sister and I are together some sort of face mask, eye brow plucking, or manicures take place. (The benefits of having a sister–someone to test out various beauty products with–obviously!)
My guy and I celebrated our three year wedding anniversary last week apart as he was sadly on a flight home from a work trip back east. While I of course wish we could have spent the evening together, I’m not going to lie, it was one of the most luxurious, self-pampering nights I’ve had in awhile. It was a rather spontaneous evening and I was so pleased with my impromptu-cheese-platter-for-one situation that I was inspired to document the scene.
First things first, I treated myself to some of my favorites foods. Figs! Wine and cheese.
Pulled out my favorite coffee table book and a stack of magazines for a little design inspiration for an upcoming project.
Opened a delicious riesling, and lit plenty of candles despite the 100 degree weather outside. (I had the air conditioning on, plus you gotta set the luxurious mood.)
Painted my nails, and pulled out a few various beauty products to test.
Best of all, I was in bed before 10pm.
