I recently helped a girlfriend edit her closet, and she found the process to be so helpful that I realized I should share my spring wardrobe essentials with you here too–and what I’m investing in / craving at the moment. Over the past couple of years I’ve really honed in on my personal style, and this year especially, I’ve realized what basics and pieces I live in the most. It really helps to understand what pieces you feel good in and what you grab for / what you wear on the daily. Maybe all your wardrobe needs is upgrading those worn daily essentials!
Personally it feels good to be out of the breastfeeding / on-the-floor phase of early baby life and although I still live in a very California-casual-motherhood-friendly wardrobe, I’ve been pulling for more of those special pieces in my closet again. This spring I’m craving sophisticated, timeless classics and have been pulling inspiration from Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, The Row and Totême.
My closet essentials revolve around a capsule wardrobe of sorts that I continuously pull from–those quality basics that you can mix and match and restyle a number of ways. I never tire of the classics and they always look effortlessly cool. Clean denim, an oversized camel blazer, crisp white tees, cream pants… just to name a few of my spring essentials. Then you can mix in more of those seasonal pieces and the quirky pieces that make style your own.
I always gravitate towards more florals and feminine pieces and silhouettes this time of year as we head into spring but currently on my spring wishlist*: an updated cream and straight leg denim (this pair is super flattering), nude ballet flat, black mule / sandal, cotton poplin shirts, floral blouse, black one-piece swimsuit
** Updated this post with my tried and true staples that I live in––and a few new finds as well!
