I’ve been wanting to get down to The Barlow–an outdoor marketplace in Sebastopol with a great mix of local food, art, speciality stores, wine and beer–for sometime now and finally made a day of it with my mom and Willow recently. We were on our way to San Francisco and went by way of Sonoma from Sacramento, specifically so we could pop into Elsie Green‘s location at The Barlow. Unsurprisingly, Elsie lived up to my hopes… and we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon wandering around and exploring all that The Barlow has to offer. If you have plans to be close by in the Sonoma area wine tasting, it’s the perfect afternoon shopping break. Here are my favorite must-stop shops and spots to grab a bite:
Elsie Green | My french antique heaven. A curated assortment of vintage finds (that the team is constantly sourcing, mainly from France) and home items that will completely inspire you to go home and move things around. All-one-of-a kind pieces that have such lovely stories behind them. And the team at Elsie is just oh so fun and inspiring themselves. Elsie Green also has their Concord location but this specific location at The Barlow has more of a showroom feel. On this particular trip I picked up linens and Moroccan glasses.
How amazing is this headboard situation? It was the base to a grape press for making wine–found at an estate winery in the south of France.
I love all of their farm tables… and this sweet nook. Now I just need that ranch house to style! Wink, wink.
For a quick bite my mom and I grabbed tacos at Barrio. If you like spicy the veggie tacos were so delicious!
Eat and Drink:
Taylor Lane Coffee
The Farmer’s Wife (if you’re in the mood for a really great grilled cheese)
Fern Bar (I didn’t eat here but have heard great things about the food–it’s really beautiful inside!)
Kosho Sushi (I didn’t get the chance to eat here either but it’s next on my list)
Community Market (adorable natural and organic grocery store perfect for picking up specialty items–that has that small co-op feel that I just love)]
Golden State Cider
Pax Wines (a must for picking up local and unique natural wines! actually my friend’s at Jeune turned me onto this gem)
Besides Elsie Green for home pieces, the other shop I would highly recommend stopping into was Scout West County.
Shop:
Scout West County | There’s something for everyone here! A beautifully curated mix of home, gift items, women’s, men’s and the most adorable children’s section (which may have been where I spent most of my time).
(Misha & Puff has quickly become a fave, super-sweet line of mine for spurge-worthy pieces for Willow.)
My mom and Willow–it was a particularly hot day so poor little Willow, but my mom was the baby whisperer keeping her happy so I could shop around. Ah, don’t you just love grandmas?
Fern Bar is located next door to Scout so you can pop by for a drink after a little shopping (or vice versa!). It’s light-filled and gorgeous inside.
