This past weekend my guy and I flew off to Santa Fe for some southwestern culture, green chile salsa on everything, epic hiking, and of course, quality time together. We had the best time and while I feel like we only just scratched the surface, here are a few of my favorite spots we discovered:
Where to Stay | We stayed at the Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi (you really can’t go wrong with the Rosewood). I of course loved the decor and wooden beams of the rooms*, and the hotel is conveniently located in the main square of downtown so we walked everywhere. We would definitely stay here again although to switch things up next time I’d like to experience the designs of Seret & Sons at the Inn of Five Graces. If going with girlfriends and you want to spend some quality time at the pool or spa I’d also recommend staying at the Four Seasons Santa Fe. This location is about 20 minutes from the downtown but a true escape for relaxation. We made it up there for lunch on their outside patio and loved learning more about the history of the longtime dude ranch resort.
Where to Eat | Our favorite meal of the trip was definitely the grub enchiladas and sopapillas we indulged in at La Choza. It came highly recommended by locals (as did its sister restaurant: The Shed–which is the same food but more touristy). If you like spicy margaritas I highly recommend ordering the off menu “Burn”–as this tasty jalapeño infused cocktail will make your night! Another spot worth recommending: Modern General. This gem is the perfect green juice / smoothie snack stop to pop into if you’re headed out of town for a hike or just want a healthy start to the day. We went twice in two days it was that good and I had the most unique green smoothie ever–Basil Coconut–(I was so curious I had to try) which was surprisingly super delicious!
Where to Shop | Obviously! This artistic town is full of eclectic stores selling an overwhelming amount of turquoise, western wear shops with vintage boots and custom hats, art galleries, local street vendors, farmers markets, and the coolest home decor. Needless to say I was in my element. I take shopping very seriously and have a true appreciation for unique items so I definitely did my due diligence here and these my top musts:
Nathalie: Curated with love by the coolest french cowgirl you’ll ever meet–Nathalie. This is where I bought my turquoise on the trip and spent over an hour talking with the owner about her editor days at Vogue, living in Paris, and how to spot the best turquoise (don’t buy it if it’s shiny or bright blue).
Santa Fe Vintage Outpost: Located just off the main square of downtown, I stumbled into this tiny spot and instantly fell for their assortment of vintage tees, denim, and indigo. I’m so obsessed with indigo dyed pieces that I bought a scarf right off the super cool shop gal.
Santa Fe Hat Shop + MontiCristi Hat Shop: for custom cowboy hats
Kowboyz: for an insane amount of new and used cowboy boots (all sizes and prices)
Seret & Sons: One of the most amazing interior and home decor stores I’ve seen! With unique pieces from Afghanistan, India, Tibet and more… this place will leave you wanting to remodel. Or add an eclectic door to the front of your house. Also, be sure to check out it’s next door neighbor: Mediterránia.

What to Do | The main highlight outside of eating and shopping was our hike in The Tent Rocks just outside of Albuquerque. This hike is only 1.5 miles and can be slightly crowded in some parts of the trail but was well worth it as the view at the top is stunning (see below). We also enjoyed exploring the street vendors and local farmers market where we picked up some fun items to bring back for our friends: spices and sage.
