After Chicago we drove through Iowa where we stayed with my sweet friend Kiley in Des Moines. Des Moines was such a charming city with the nicest people and I honestly would never have thought to visit had we not gone the Northwest route. I’m so glad we did and am already scheming another trip to visit her soon!
The Badlands (South Dakota).
Along the way we’ve been making various stops, some planned and others spontaneous (that’s what road trips are all about right?!). One of our rather unplanned stops along the way was the Badlands in South Dakota, and it ranked up there as one of the main highlights of the trip. It feels like taking an eery step back (or forward) in time and was unbelievably surreal. My photos simply do not do this park justice, and I highly recommend you visit.
