I’m convinced that booking a desert escape following any east coast winter trip (i.e.: February fashion week) is 100% a must. At the time, a 4am wake-up call to catch my early morning flight (after arriving in the night prior at 11pm) wasn’t awesome, but sitting poolside sipping my morning coffee at 10am in Palm Springs was.
The HauteLook team invited a couple of my blogging girlfriends and I to experience Modernism Week (a week dedicated to celebrating the midcentury architecture, design, art, and fashion that is so heavily present in Palm Springs). Totally up my home decor alley, hang time with Sam, Mara and Devon–plus, Palm Springs! I was stoked. Highlights from the weekend included: touring the homes (I only wish we had had time to see more), soaking up some Vitamin D (after freezing my booty off the days before), some delicious meals (Birba and Cheeky’s especially), and tasty cocktails at the HauteLook party Friday night.
A weekend in Palm Springs is always a good idea–you should probably pencil in a spring trip with your girls now.
We stayed at the Avalon Hotel–a cool Kelly Wearstler designed boutique hotel that has that Palm Springs retro charm that we all love.
Our mornings consisted of some quality pool-time hangs… and since I’m so white right now I made sure to slather on the spf, snagged my girl Sam’s hat (I have the same one but forgot it thanks to my 4am brain), and wore an Equipment blouse to cover my shoulders (a recent HauteLook score!).
From my favorite night–cocktails at the HauteLook house with these two.
I loved the hotel lobby–that tile is way fun, even if it does kind of make you dizzy.
Dying for a 1960s Mercedes and can’t believe my parent’s sold theirs. Thanks a lot guys!
I wish I got to see these ladies more often!
The simplicity of midcentury design made me want to come home and de-clutter. I can be such an eclectic maximalist sometimes!
If you stay at the Avalon the guac and chips are a must. And thanks to Devon for finding out that they’re available for room service.
Another AM highlight–yoga. I’ve been getting really into Ashtanga Vinyasa and it felt good to stretch after a week+ without my usual flow!
Oh and we took a cacti terrarium class one afternoon!–which you know was right up my alley.
Such a fun weekend–thank you again to HauteLook team! When can we do it again?
