Farfetch Curates Design: Go Green

I try to sneak in a sister date whenever I’m in San Francisco for work–and sometimes this means weekly if I’m lucky! We love trying new restaurants and I of course usually drag her along to my favorite boutiques. Erica is an Art History professor so she’s continuously inspiring me to take in the latest art exhibits. This last week we were inspired by Farfetch’s latest coffee table book (the 2nd of a 3 book series with Assouline): Farfetch Curates Design, to spend the afternoon at the Academy of Sciences. I hadn’t been back to the Academy of Sciences since I lived in SF 6+ years ago. I remember going to an evening happy hour with my roomies and at the time I was more into my wine than the educational aspect so it was nice to experience it again. The highlight? That albino alligator below (yes it’s real!), and simply appreciating the green aspect and incredible design of the building as featured in Farfetch Curates Design.

Some of my east coast friends have told me that when visiting San Francisco they feel like we are living in the future. The Academy of Sciences really depicts this with it’s futuristic design constructed almost entirely from recycled concrete and steel. Oh and get this–it’s insulated by shredded denim. How crazy is that?

If you’re not familiar with Farfetch–it’s a favorite online destination of mine for shopping the best edit from boutiques all over the world. It’s a good one to stalk when you’re hunting for that specific designer piece that you simply can’t find in person, and a great way to discover new boutiques and shop small (while on the web). I’ll often snag some sweet Isabel Marant deals from over in Europe (when I’m lucky!). I’m wearing my latest finds courtesy of Farfetch here–this IRO blouse, these boots (I want to wear these everyday now and think they’re the coolest) and this awesome fringe bag.

After leaving the museum we drove over to Hayes Valley for lunch at Absinthe where we shared fries, grilled cheese, meatballs and a few salads for our health. Of course any trip into the city isn’t complete without a cup of Blue Bottle coffee and since my girlfriend Ashley had never been (what?!) it was also a must. Plus I just love the alley location in Hayes.
