So I shared with you some snaps from our morning at the flower mart, and as promised, I wanted to share our final floral masterpieces–the arrangements my girlfriend Caitlin and I put together for the Pixora launch party I hosted last Monday. Throwing parties can be stressful so I knew I wanted help with a couple aspects: food and florals. Thankfully, C agreed to help me with the latter which was a huge stressor off my back. Plus, she’s the most easy going, chill gal to have around so she instantly calmed any of my pre-party-host jitters. Caitlin has such a natural eye for all decor elements so when it came to the floral arrangements I just told her I wanted something branchy, to include peonies (everyone’s faves), and to preferably keep the color scheme all-white and green (my fave). After scouring the flower mart early Monday morning, here’s what C came up with…
My first task: destem the peonies. (Sure thing girlfriend!)
We put together two larger arrangements, and a mix of smaller / bud displays using a hodgepodge of vases I had on hand.
Tip: I actually used recycled glass juice bottles from a favorite local juicer (Liquidology) for the bud vases. I then gave these away as party favors at the end of the night which was such a hit!
Since most of the peonies we picked up were still buds Caitlin showed me how to gently pull them apart for a more full-bloom look. We also made sure to cut them and put them in water right away so they would have time to soak up that H20 before the party that evening.
I loved the mix of texture.
We used these branches for the two larger arrangements we made. We had one next to the bar as you entered the space and the other on the food table.
Take home note: If you’re hosting a party and you know you might be stressed, ask a girlfriend to help you make the floral arrangements. It’s more fun to make them with a friend anyway.
