Stacked Stories

I vividly remember going through my mom and Nana’s jewelry boxes growing up. (I mean what girl didn’t?) I was enamored with each of their collections and have always taken note of the way in which they layered and stacked, in particular, their rings. My Nana has quite the diamond collection and there probably aren’t stacks (or hands for that matter) that I love as much as hers. She recently surprised me with a 1930’s antique ring that I’ve been eyeing for the past 14 years. It’s now my most treasured piece and I never want to take it off. I’ve also found that I now base all jewelry decisions off whether or not it will go with my ring.

I love the stories that jewels tell. The family heirlooms that have been passed on for generations–the sentimental gifts and unique travel or flea finds–all stacked in the most unique ways. My mom for instance has two pinky rings that have been in the family for years–one for myself and one for my sister. She wears these pinky rings on certain days she wants to send us some extra positive energy–like when I had a chemistry test in college, or my sister was flying back to London. I’ve always loved that.

Whether diamonds or costume jewelry there’s nothing I’m inspired by more than seeing how different people style and stack their bling. What are some of your most treasured pieces?
