Holiday Event Dressing: The Velvet Top

Really having a moment with velvet (gold velvet to be more accurate) and wore this knotted top to two recent events.  It’s the perfect top / light jacket option for date nights, fall weddings… holiday events you name it.  I feel like I’m constantly grabbing for my leather jacket, and blazers can often feel too business-y depending on the occasion, so this is a nice dressy jacket alternative for this coming festive season.  I wore it with the matching velvet tank and also with a little black silk tank underneath but if you’re more daring it’s super sexy knotted on it’s own (seen here).

I visited the newer (new to me still as I had yet to go but it technically opened this past February) Reformation store on Valencia in San Francisco.  Oh my gosh you guys it’s so techy and cool.  Feels like a futuristic shopping experience because you get to browse around and select what you want to try on via their screens.  Also they have a magic dressing room which you’ll just have to go experience it in person for yourself.  But basically it’s the best for if you’re naked and don’t want to put your clothes back on to snag something in the store–you just click click the screen in your room and it appears in your magic closet.  Genius!  Anyway, that’s where I scooped up these recent velvet finds along with a few other pieces I’m excited to wear this season.

Another accessory item of note–this Isabel Marant studded bag (love this similar hobo style that’s available online too).  I’ve actually been tucking the strap in and carrying it as an evening clutch more than wearing it as a cross body.  Love that it gives any evening look a bit of a rocker edge.  AND, did you see Isabel had menswear walk the runway for the first time this past week during Paris fashion week?  Take a look!!

The Look |  Reformation Top + Tank.  IRO Pants (old, similar splurge + save).  Givenchy Heels (similar, save).  Isabel Marant Clutch (similar, or save).
