Feel the Fear

Feel the fear and do it anyway.

The best part about January is the promise of new beginnings. I am pretty good about setting goals for myself, am constantly collaging and creating new vision boards but when I sat down to make a few personal resolutions for 2015 I came up with a blank sheet. Until, that is, I spotted this quote. I found it to be particularly inspiring for myself, and thought I’d share especially as we kick off a new year.

I’ve learned and have gained so much from taking the (seemingly–at the time) scariest of chances and there’s nothing I love more than encouraging my friends to take those leaps as well. In the past couple of years I’ve taken two scary jumps–1) working at ELLE without a traditional journalism background and basically just telling myself everyday “I know what I’m doing, I got this” (not) and 2) helping to open, run and buy for our new women’s store: SYLLABUS. Of which I also had no idea what I was fully committing myself to until I jumped in. Both opportunities presented themselves to me in chance ways and scared me. Can I do it? Will I fail? But they also excited me so I knew I had to at least try. So this year I’d like to encourage you to take more risks and if something scares you in a good way, go for it.

Now about this yummy coat… because I know you’re wondering. This cozy friend is from Trina Turk (and is now on sale over on Nordstrom). I love the color and the boxier, oversized fit. I’m also loving the brown, black and gray mix–something I’ve been playing around with a lot more lately.
