Afternoons by the River

That summer sunshine has a way of bringing out the carefree, bohemian in all of us.  It also has a way of making me want to play hooky… turning off all electronics in favor of backyard picnics with Rex, ice cream and iced latte dates, long bike rides, and heading out in search of cooler temps down by the river.  Which is really what summer should be all about!  I’ve been taking full advantage of this hot weather lately, throwing together a basketful of snacks and not returning home until dusk.  Cell-phone free dates with the family (what a terrible blogger I am!).  Closing down the laptop early (I’ve been nanny-less so I haven’t really had a choice here)… and just simply hanging with Rex.  Collecting sea shells, discovering new parts of the river I have yet to explore, and enjoying the beauty of our sweet city.  Tanner and I joke about each season saying “if only everyone could experience [enter the season] in Sacramento”… but really it’s quite idyllic and I’m so happy to be giving Rex similar summer experiences to my own childhood!

Three summer essentials I’ve been grabbing for lately: 1)  a new, American made hat line I’m obsessed with (Tio y Tia),  2) anything crotched or knitted to throw over your bikini top,  3) my Levis denim skirt which you’ll definitely get sick of seeing as it’s sort of all I’ve been wearing.

Follow me down to the river!

Tio y Tia |  I’m obsessed!  Co-Founded by one of my girlfriends, Lucy Laucht, an amazing travel photographer that if you’re not already following on Instagram you definitely should be!  They’re all handmade in American and the brand just has the coolest Southwest vibe!
