A Slow January, Easing into 2020

New Year, same me!… but I always find it nice to reflect and make some affirmations for the year ahead.  You too?  This past week we took down all of the Christmas decor and I did a little tornado of decluttering and cleaning around the house which always feels so good.  Whenever I’m feeling a bit blah, oh how good a clean house feels.  Right?  I trimmed some lemons from our tree to put throughout, and everything just felt fresh again.  Highly recommend putting some hints yellow out on your counters.
Since having Rex (now three years ago!) I’ve become quite the fan of what I call a sweetly slow start to the new year.  I remember that first January with a newborn and figuring out my new-norm and honestly, feeling a bit behind.  Everyone was jumping back into their workouts and manifesting their goals while I was barely getting out the house.  It took me a minute to realize how thankful I was for the slower pace and now it’s how I prefer to enter January.
A few slower to-do’s for you to ease into 2020 as well!
xx Alicia
Recipe to make:  Spicy Sweet Potato Soup (with extra cilantro!–from It’s All Good)
Fill your home with citrus:  Make lemon arrangements and burn Jo Malone London Lime Basil & Mandarin
Just watched:  Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (different ending than I had expected, but still totally recommend watching for Brad Pitt’s acting and character alone)
Currently reading:  Where the Crawdads Sing
What to wear:  Lounging around in cozy Lou & Grey sweats, this Jenni Kayne sweater coat and Rachel Pally dresses
Activity:  Planning to patch and mend the holes in a few of my fave pairs of vintage Levis jeans.  Also have been pulling out the paints to watercolor with Rex
Get moving:  Family hikes on the weekends and daily neighborhood walks with my babes

Rachel Pally makes the comfiest dresses! If she isn’t on your radar (although I’m sure she is as she’s been in the biz for 17 years– make sure to keep an eye on her styles for spring). Oh and if you didn’t know she’s a made in LA brand which I always love to support. She has a lot of work-friendly / motherhood-friendly dresses that are flattering and super comfy.

While scrolling through Instagram one day I spotted my friend Emily wearing this knit dress. I of course commented saying I loved it on her–the next thing I knew a sweet package showed up in the mail with this dress and this metallic one (I ended up wearing on Christmas).

A few other styles I love of hers: this mock-neck that has pockets (major win!), this dress in cream also looks so comfy and is perfect for spring, And I also own and love this jumpsuit of hers that I plan to pull out again as soon as the temps warm up. It was a perfect nursing style last summer that I lived in, lounging around in my backyard with Willow.
