Okay!… so you asked for a round-up of my favorite buys from 2019 and when I spotted some of them on sale on Net-A-Porter I had to share. (By the way, Net-A-Porter is currently having an additional 15% off flash sale today so you may want to jump on it). January can be hit or miss when it comes to shopping. The collections are picked over but once in a while, and especially at well curated boutiques and online sites like Net-A-Porter, you can snag some amazing scores. In fact, some of my most treasured pieces in my wardrobe and true closet staples are my off-season sale snags.
My style has become quite casual over the past couple of years, partly due to motherhood but also due to the fact that I live in a casual city and no longer go into an office. I truly feel most comfortable and grab for denim most days of the week… which means I’ve become quite particular when it comes to the denim I do wear. I’ve gotten rid of all of my stretch denim styles and prefer a slim straight leg that fits more like a classic Levis. The two styles I lived in the most this past year were my Agolde Riley (a classic cropped straight leg)… Agolde Ren (wide leg crop–I love this styled with a heel). I’ve also heard great things and have been wanting to try this style from Totême (currently in my cart).
So with denim as the foundation I usually grab for a basic tee and a blazer or stylish jacket. This camel blazer I splurged on this past fall from Nili Lotan is a sale score must… it’s gorgeous! Still pricey but it was hands-down probably one of my best purchases of 2019. Such a classic style that I know I will wear and own for years. Runs true to size as it’s tailored to perfection.
Another 2019 most worn item were my Veja sneakers (although not currently on sale)… some great shoe styles are: Golden Goose (are they worth the splurge? Well, if you wear sneakers as much as I do then yes I think so). Oh and these ankle boots (although mine are black) were also some of my most worn this year. It’s the perfect low-bootie heel height and if you already own a bootie in classic camel or black then this is such a pretty rich color to switch things up. As for heels, I’ve been curious to try BY FAR and LOQ. Anyone? I love these for spring.
Also, slip dresses and slip skirts. Another staple in my wardrobe for sure. I pull for these classics and constantly find new ways to style and give them a fresh feel even years later. I bought a couple more out there colors this past year and had fun styling them–a yellow silk skirt and an orange-gold both from Vince. Love this silver slip from the brand.
Additional jacket sale finds I’ve had on my radar: How cute is this cropped linen and cotton-blend jacket? I fell for liner jacket styles this year and love this tiger-print one from Anine Bing for something a bit more fun. I still think this metallic rain jacket is super cool (love it styled half-tucked into denim). And lastly, a dream jacket (similar save) that I’ve been stocking for months. Pricey but again, it’s a dream jacket…
Another brand I fell for this year and splurged on this kimono style dress (but I wear it open over jeans as a jacket)–is Bernadette. I love the bright colors and floral prints. It feels like a nice branch-out from my usual when I want to wear a special yet still very easy piece.
Lastly, a few brands I’m keeping my eye on for spring: Mara Hoffman (love her sustainable practices) and Apiece Apart for easy dresses.
