Something Sentimental: The Locket

I had a heart locket necklace growing up and recently got a bit nostalgic thinking about where I’ve misplaced it over the years.  I would switch out the photos–I think I had my sister or my parents in mine, I actually can’t remember now which makes me wish I could find it even more.  There’s just something really sweet thinking back to my ten year old self wearing my heart locket.  When chatting about my love for lockets and excitement over a new one, my nanny mentioned that her mom has a locket with her little sister’s teeth marks on it still from when she was a baby and teething.  Is that not the sweetest?  Perhaps, better than a photo inside!

I fell for this sweet and cool line of lockets by Sasha Samuel.  The size is just right so you can actually fit a decent sized photo inside.  The chain is delicate and it sort of reminds me of something you may have stolen from your mom which makes me love it even more.  In this day of having so many photos on our phones I’ve been going old school, printing a bunch of Rex from this past year and having one of my favorite memories around my neck feels a little bit like a lucky charm of sorts.

The locket I ended up scooping up is now currently 30% off thanks to Shopbop’s early BlackFriday sale–making the price a bit easier to swallow and also a great gift idea too.  I’m also in love with this moon-and-star motif, this classic heart locket, oh and this one too.  If looking for a cheaper option I also found this one for an under $50 price point.  Would make the sweetest gift for your mom, sister or girlfriend this holiday season.  Or yourself, let’s be honest!

Also love these styles that aren’t classic lockets but have the same sentimental touch as they can be engraved–love this Jane Pope “mommy necklace” (remember my love for her engraved rings too?!), this way cool style by Ariel Gordon and this Grace Lee O Locket.
