My sister, Erica’s, wedding day was hands down right up there as one of the most magical days of my life as well. Have you had a sibling get married?… don’t you agree? All of your favorite people are there (same as your special day) except without any of the pressure. I had happy tears in my eyes all day… and just couldn’t believe my baby (she’ll always be my “little sis”) was all grown up. She was an absolutely stunning bride!!!
The wedding industry has come so far even since I got married (almost 8 years ago) and while sometimes I wish I could do it all over again, it was much more fun living vicariously through Erica this time around. One of the most thoughtful and memorable touches Erica decided on was to scent her wedding with Jo Malone London candles throughout the ceremony and reception. The glow of the candles alone made her walk down the isle all the more romantic, but that subtle hint of her chosen scent, Wood Sage & Sea Salt, wafting throughout the gardens and reception created the most memorable entrance and experience for the guests. Everyone was commenting on it. Scenting a wedding isn’t something I would have thought of, but after experiencing it, it’s truly a special touch. Especially for someone like my sister with such a keen sense of smell. For her, scents instantly remind her of people and places so choosing a specific wedding day scent, one that will always take her back to those memories of her special day was really special for her. Now whenever I’m burning Wood Sage & Sea Salt around our house (on the regular!) I always think of her.
Jo Malone London has become so well known for scenting special occasions that they just launched a gorgeous Bridal Lace Collection this past month! A line-up of their most loved scents with beautiful etched designs on the perfumes and candles. So so pretty for your special day!
Choosing her scent | Months before her big day we went to the Jo Malone London store on Union Street in San Francisco together with my mom, aunt, and cousins to all help her choose her signature wedding day scent. She ultimately decided on Wood Sage & Sea Salt, one of my all-time favorites as well, and thought it would be perfect for her outdoor garden venue. Little did I know my mom and sister went back to the Jo Malone London store and picked up the same perfume for all of the bridesmaids, so between the candles and the wedding party, we were all wafting in quite the enticing scent all night long!
Wood Sage & Sea Salt combines well with Lime Basil & Mandarin so my sister also chose to have this soap and lotion in the bathrooms. (Per Jo Malone London’s recommendation–they think of everything!)
I also loved that Erica chose to wear the same earrings I wore on my wedding day (of course I helped her accessorize!). And Joel had the coolest bespoke suit, custom made by his friends at Tailors’ Keep in SF.
