Refresh. Reset. Reimagine.

I’ve been having a lot of the same conversations with girlfriends lately and felt inspired to write a longer post on a topic that has been swirling around in my life for some time now. I began the year with an unintentional theme that became a complete refresh, reset, and reimaging––in all of the ways. And honestly it has felt so gosh darn good I’ve been meaning to share more! Actually it’s taken me a couple months to write this because part of this refresh of mine has meant spending more time offline––but better late than never right?

2020 (like all of us), took a toll on me. Mentally and physically. It was hard as a mother, hard on our marriage at times, hard as someone who gets so much creativity when traveling and inspiration from others, hard to see so many friends and our communities hurting–to see businesses you love shut down… oh the anxiety,… the list goes on! Hard in all of the ways. It wasn’t until I hit a few rock bottoms that I realized I needed to make some major changes. I found myself craving a complete reset last fall. And now, after a few months of cleaning up certain areas of my life and rediscovering a routine that feels good I’m finally feeling so clear sort of like I found myself again… I wanted to share in hopes that if any of you are feeling the same, just know you’re not alone!

For me, it was getting back into practicing the things I’ve done regularly all my life, but neglected in the grind and blur of this past year. I’ve also realized that a lot of this is also outside of 2020, and perhaps just related to those first early years of motherhood where we’re giving so much from ourselves to our families. Leaving us with little time for self-care, all while trying to figure out this thing called work-life-balance.

Things like, regular workouts, drinking more water and eating nutrient dense foods, became non-negotiables again. Also, my focus has shifted toward prioritizing my curiosity and passion for learning new things by reading more books and the hunt of new inspiration through art.

The theme of quality over quantity has made its way into everything I love, from prayer or meditation to my simplified beauty routine, and even my girlfriend chats, have all been so necessary for my mental sanity!

Obviously everyone’s list looks different but it took hitting some lows to re-evaluate what was missing in my life and how I could make some changes to fill myself back up again.

Most recently, in February I discovered Sakara Life’s podcast and truly believe their philosophy of what you feed your mind and what you feed your body, goes hand-in-hand with how you feel. The nutrition part is obviously super important but over the past few months, I realized how much I had gotten myself into a negative headspin this past year.

Beginning with little ways of resetting like, saying yes to more of the things that filled me up and saying no to anything that wasn’t any longer. Especially focusing on what I put my attention on, my intention into, and what I let receive my energy. Our energy feels like the most sacred thing––and everything has an impact on it––what music you play around the house, what you’re reading, who you’re letting in etc. It all completely affects our moods.

So my refresh started with getting myself in a better headspace and then slowly has evolved into other areas of my life––including style which I’m sure you may all be most interested in. I put together a visual board and have been saving style inspiration and editing my closet. In a year where I didn’t wear half of the items in my closet somehow I feel like I’ve evolved and defined my style more than ever. Realizing what pieces we live in the most and where we might want to make investments in and always choosing quality over quantity.

Working on a spring style board and some updates for you next!
