I couldn’t be more thrilled to share the official launch of Wrel Living, a timeless collection of curated lifestyle essentials by California small-makers. My close girlfriend, Sam (Could I Have That?) and I have always had a very similar aesthetic and have wanted to collaborate in a larger way for years. So together over the last few months, we’ve been sourcing and re-designing some of our favorites to create Wrel with you in mind!
The concept for Wrel was born from our love of slow California living, storytelling, and the joy of curating and sharing everyday essential finds with each of you!
To start, the name Wrel comes from our kids who inspire us the most these days (Willow, Rex, Elin and Lila). We played around with various words and letters and Sam was the one who came up with Wrel! We loved that it is a play on Well Lived, Well Loved. Sam and I have always enjoyed that slower California pace but when kids came into the mix they’ve slowed us down in the best way possible. Soaking up their magic and embracing small ways to make those everyday moments feel special. Which is what Wrel is all about at the heart!
We love gathering our family and friends for good food and good wine and thus we wanted our first capsule collection to revolve around the kitchen and entertaining. We have sourced and designed what we think is the ideal summer tabletop capsule with some of our favorite California craftsman. Pieces that are beautiful but aren’t too precious to use on the daily, and pieces you’ll hopefully cherish forever.
Sam and I were inspired by a muted dusty rose color palette for this summer capsule. We both own a lot of neutrals and whites and felt like this was the ideal palette to layer with what you already own and love in your own homes.
I am especially so proud that our first capsule is all California made, and actually all made by female small-makers. This summer edit speaks to our roots––Sam in Southern California, and me in Northern California. All of our pieces are handmade and one-of-a-kind which means it’s limited quantities––making each piece that much more special!
Like our hand painted rose plates (by Michelle of Good Kind Work in LA). Michelle is so talented! I couldn’t love her pieces more. We wanted to make an exclusive dusty rose floral print plate with Michelle and a serving platter that is ideal for serving family-style meals.
Our serving bowls are made in the Bay Area by ceramist, Zoe Dering. They’re perfectly imperfect. The fluted bowls make such a statement on the table and I can’t get enough of her sweet bud vases, each shape is a bit unique.
Our pitchers are made in Santa Barbara by Sarah of Yokwe (just down the street from Sam). Our oak serving boards are made in LA (the ideal cheese board, we love this thin design!), and our linens are cut and sewn by Rough Linen, also in the Bay. I set the table with Rough Linen napkins every night and they just get better with every wash. I love a slightly wrinkled, effortless linen look for a non-fuss table!
We are starting small but are excited to see where this takes us and hope that Wrel will be ever-evolving with us! We love the idea of having small surprise drops and seasonal edits to bring to you. We are planning to evolve into womens, kids and home. (We have kids and a gift shop in the works for this fall / holiday season!).
Since we are working with small makers, Wrel will be limited in quantity and our items will be drop-shipped from the individual makers themselves, as most pieces are made-to-order. The shipping was the biggest piece of the puzzle to figure out for Sam and I, so it’s been a bit of a learning curve. But we hope it’s seamless and would love any feedback from you along the way.
You can see the full collection here! Can’t wait to hear what you think and to set the table with you! Wrel Living style.
