I’m often asked what to wear in San Francisco so for those traveling to the city over the holidays I thought I’d share my standard go-tos. San Francisco is a pretty casual city so I always tell people to pack jeans and comfortable walking shoes. A cool pair of boots is definitely the way to go as you can wear them both day and night. Unless you have some specific event, if you’re a denim lover like me, you could honestly spend your entire weekend in the jeans you arrived in.
I like to pack light–especially for weekend trips so I tend to wear one outfit and pack a few more pieces that I can mix-and-match throughout the weekend. I was actually in the city earlier this week and wore this jacket again–only this time layered over a denim jacket and maxi dress–and it was a great cold weather option. San Francisco is chilly almost year-round but is cooling down a bit more for winter so be sure to pack layers, a warm coat, and good scarf option.
My complete weekend packing list can be found below!
The Look | IRO Jacket (black is on sale!) also love! + Top. Citizen of Humanity Jeans. Marc Fisher Boots (another great option–flat is best in this hilly city!). Jennifer Fisher Charm Necklace.
A look at my SF weekend packing list and some additional options perfect to wear in this city below:
Wear 1 pair of blue jeans, pack 1 pair of black jeans
Wear 1 pair of comfy boots (great for traveling and walking), pack 1 pair of dressier boots (or heels if you have a special occasion but I rarely wear heels in this city)
Wear a cozy chunky knit sweater while traveling, pack 2 light layering tanks / tees and a long sleeve or thin cashmere sweater
Pack 1 light weight coat for the day time and 1 heavier option for evening (a leather, denim jacket or blazer works well for layering under warmer coats)
Pack a dress option–I’m into longer maxi and midi length dresses right now with layered knits and a light weight coat
Wear 1 versatile scarf that you can wear all weekend long (can’t go wrong with black)
Optional: If you’re a hat person, pack one (I usually do)
