If there’s one thing I try do on every visit I make to San Francisco it’s seek out and eat my fair share of bread. (I totally save up my carb calories so in my mind it’s always justified and completely necessary.) Well let’s actually say two things: bread and coffee. And if there’s one place that does both well that’s Tartine. If you haven’t been yet the new Mission location, Tartine Manufactory, is not to be missed if you’re a fan of this bread and coffee duo as well and looking for a great lunch / brunch spot. Oh and they’re serving dinner now too! (I’m anxious to go after Bar Tartine sadly closed–it was one of my longtime favorite dinner-date spots.)
Tartine Manufactory is stunning and basically instagram gold. The bright airy space with tall glass windows, wooden beams, hanging lanterns, and beautiful bar are just begging to be snapped. Also, if you’re a Heath Ceramics fan this gem of a restaurant is located inside! Meaning the tiles, dishes and clean decor elements are seamlessly intertwined. Perfect for lunch with your girlfriend followed by shopping for dishware.
I treated my mom to her first Tartine lunch last week as a thank you for helping out with Rex. We ordered a couple salads to share with of course, a side of toast. (The homemade jam is so yum!) I’m so glad they opened this larger location as the bakery was always such a hard one with the long lines and hardly any seating. This new spot still has the lines and difficult parking so keep that in mind if you’re meeting someone at a specific time–but it does have much more seating. We had no problems finding a spot. And also lucked out with a small / quick moving line.
I mean don’t even go if you’re not going to order the bread.
PS: Did you hear Tartine Manufactory is coming to Downtown LA in 2017? It’s supposed to be three times the San Francisco size so I’m very curious to visit!
