Sister Date: Hook & Ladder

Between work and friends, I’ve been driving to and from San Francisco weekly these days. Some weeks it’s a bit exhausting, but for the most part it makes me really happy as I’m able to get my city fix while also fitting in some girlfriend time (and sister time). Since we can’t seem to get enough of each other these days, I coaxed her to spend her spring break with me in Sac last week. (Side note: my little sister is now a University professor and has spring breaks again! a) cutest professor right? b) spring breaks!! jealous? I am).

Now I know everyone wants to spend their spring break in Sacramento, our lovely state capital, but I also made sure to make it extra special for her by dragging her along with me to Ikea, Target, a few meetings and even talked her into helping me clean out our second bedroom. All of the usual, and very exciting spring break happenings really. To top off the fun, er treat her to a thank-you-for-running-all-of-my-errands-with me-during-your-time-off, I took her to lunch at one of my favorite spots: Hook & Ladder. As you can tell from our apartment decor, I’m into the rustic / industrial mixed decor these days and the restaurant vibe is right up my alley. Plus, the farm-to-table dishes are pretty delicious.

Per usual, and as sisters do, she raided my closet. Recognize her look?

Be sure to order the burrata pizza–it’s a must.

Making new friends and adjusting to a new city takes time–especially when you work from home and always seem to be on the go / traveling–so more than ever I’m thankful to be living closer to this gal. That sisterly bond just can’t be beat. Even though she’s my younger sister, I often joke and have probably already mentioned here, but she seems more like an older sister to me. She keeps me in line and grounded (much more mature than me that one!).
