Now I don’t know what it is… the fact that I am a short hop-skip-and-a-jump away from a homemade pasta dinner, just miles from my closest girlfriends, or the fact that my days seem extra productive and yet simultaneously more carefree, but I’ve been taking more time throughout each day to stop and just appreciate. Everything from: a purple house, a favorite snack, when my guy takes out the trash, reuniting with a high school friend and/or sweet snail mail. Most importantly on this list, I’ve been appreciating more than ever the fact that I’m back in California. I’ve been trying my best to only focus on the positives that Sacramento has to offer (and trying my best not to compare it to any other city that I love) and you know what ~ it’s working! For example: I used to roll my eyes when anyone mentioned Old Town Sacramento but after a recent trip to this blast from the past historic-ville I’m now singing a different tune.
Oh and on the flip side, I have to mention something that made me appreciate New York this week… but first you gotta read this article over on ELLE (a. she’s way brave b. she looks awesome and c. I got quite a few stares and the barista called me out when I wore this all-white number last week ~ so yeah only in New York could she walk into Starbucks without anyone noticing that getup). I might have to do an official west coast vs. east coast comparison post soon…
Chambray and adventure-seeking boots seemed like appropriate attire for an early morning (actually back in December) wandering along the historic railroad tracks.
