Merry, Merry Traditions

My guy and I will be traveling most of December which means our poor tree won’t be given as much love this year. But regardless, the thought of not having one never even crossed our minds. Picking out the perfect tree, however big or small (the past few years we couldn’t fit anything larger than 3 feet into our place), and bringing it home to decorate will always be a favorite holiday tradition of mine. The fresh pine smell and twinkling lights instantly made our place feel cozier this past weekend. Another favorite holiday tradition of mine: that indulgent glass of egg nog. I’m not a huge egg nog drinker, and actually prefer it spiked, but I do crave my yearly glass while wrapping gifts. Also, egg nog will forever remind me of my mom as it’s one of her favorite treats this time of year. Like mother, like daughter!

Lastly, my guy and I are big on quality time over gifts, and always try to plan special dates, or getaways around the holidays. This year we’re heading off to the Caribbean for some much needed R&R (my new aviators from Sunglass Hut were the first item that went into my bag). Besides quality time with each other I also try to do something special for and with girlfriends. It’s harder now that we’re spread across the bay area but whether it’s dinner in or drinks out, we always try to make an effort to do something fun.

What are your favorite holiday traditions?
