We’re just shy of a few weeks from moving into our new home and things are (finally!) starting to get exciting! I can’t believe it’s already been over 3 months since I shared our home news and my inspiration. Turns out everyone was right, remodeling an older home sure has had its unexpected set backs and definitely took longer than expected but with that said, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way and feel so good about making this home completely ours. If I could offer one piece of advice from our home buying experience, it would be to choose the neighborhood that will be best for your lifestyle and family at this time (not thinking too far in the future because you never know what might change). You may not find your dream house–I never thought I would be living in a 1930’s colonial style home–but you can turn something livable into your dream house (if it meets the majority of your requirements that is)!
These photos are just a peek at the original dining room mid-remodel–how about that granny chic wall paper? One quick and easy fix that modernized the house right away (pre-demo) was simply removing the shutters on the windows. And one of the best decisions we’ve made throughout the entire process was to knock out the wall between the dining room and kitchen, opening the room up into one large eat-in kitchen. We’re not fancy people so we didn’t want a formal dining room. I’m so excited with how this eat-in kitchen is coming along that I think it will actually make me want to cook more!
Yesterday I had the difficult task of picking out white and black paint colors (so hard right?)… and can’t wait to show you more of how the space comes together. Above is a glimpse of my black and white inspiration and the direction we’ve gone. Think wishbone chairs, black hardware, and brass fixtures… swoon! A classic meets eclectic mix.
