Checking in after the very best (actually it was my birthday) weekend which rolled into the best start to the week! From the most relaxing couple days away (in our happy place, Tomales Bay) with the family to spending my actual birthday, which was on Monday, with my mom and sister in San Francisco. I have been wanting to go to the Joan Mitchell exhibit at the SFMOMA and it did not dissappoint! It’s an amazing collection of her works and I already want to go back, I just love her work so much. So it was all-around my perfect weekend and perfect day.
From the Weekend | We went for multiple hikes, collected seashells at the beach, enjoyed the cooler true fall-like weather, ate fireside meals and grabbed pizza out on Saturday evening. I couldn’t love nature-exploring Rex and Willow more. They’re in the element running up the hillside and finding feathers and treasures along the way. Travel is getting a little easier now that R & W are just a little bit older, less shlepping of all of the things… they can both sleep in a separate room and in beds… there’s less to pack now etc. And there were no tears!… I mean, it just doesn’t get better in my motherhood book. I came back feeling so rested and also I have to say playing hooky on a Monday in SF with my mom and sister was the best start to the week!
I still feel like I’m in my twenties in spirit… probably yes, mid-thirties is more accurate though… but there’s something about having kids that has made me realize how very precious life is. This birthday sort of hit me in a way, gosh how quickly these years fly by… how thankful I am for their magic and wonder! They sure keep me on my toes and make me want to constantly strive to do better and show up as the best version of myself for them and others.
I wore this cropped Simon Miller top (also available here) one evening and I love the fit and style! It’s ribbed and hits at just the right spot on me if wearing a high-rise denim. Not too much skin showing but just barely shows some stomach when you shift around.
