We just got home after four days spent in San Francisco and two in Palo Alto. Since my guy and I both bounce back and forth from San Francisco and Sacramento often for work we’re used to “that hotel life.” Having stayed in practically all of the hotels in the city now, the Palace Hotel San Francisco is by far a favorite (I’ve exclaimed my love during past visits here, here and in New York here). We used Valentine’s Day as our excuse and treated ourselves to an extended stay through the weekend so we could fit in some leisure time as well. It was the perfect SF staycation–amazing weather, delicious food, time spent with close friends, visited some old haunts and new gems too–just the city fix I needed to inspire and recharge me. (And this made for two SF weekends in a row for Rex–quite the city boy!).
Since we switched things up from the norm this trip–listing 6 ways to spend your next weekend in San Francisco.
Working from the room while Rex napped (not too shabby of an office!)… after a morning spent in the Outer Sunset where I snagged this amazing vintage score of a blouse at General Store. I don’t usually head out that way often but on this particular trip I made it out there twice. The second time with my guy for a drink and dinner at Outerlands. So much yum!
My guy and I both love the suites at the Palace as the additional room gives us both a place to do work and spread out a bit more. Also now with Rex it’s nice to have the extra space for play time.
“Rex who’s that?!”
One of the main highlights during our stay at the Palace was indulging in their breakfast buffet on Saturday morning. Oh my goodness, wow it was good! Fanciest brunch situation I’ve ever experienced. We piled our plates high and of course went back for seconds. The beauty of buffets right?!
Pretty pleased about this new high-rise denim discovery… (an even higher rise than the Liya style I’ve been living in).
The Palace had a bottle of wine waiting for us in our room and I tell ya this is pretty genius if you’re staying somewhere for a few days. Either bring your own bottle or buy one upon arrival. It was so nice to have a glass while finishing up work and waiting for Tanner to “get home”… also saves on happy hours out.
We have a little routine now since we’ve stayed at the Palace a number of times. After a glass of wine in the room we walk down to Salt House for dinner. It never disappoints!
6 Things To Do On Your Next Visit to San Francisco |
Treat yourself to a staycation at the Palace Hotel! The rooms and suites are the largest we’ve experienced in SF. And the suites are really nice if traveling with family or need to shut the door while working in the attached sitting room. Also… best brunch buffet if you want to go all out.
Farmers Market at the Ferry Building. Walking distance from the Palace we got up early on Saturday morning and grabbed Blue Bottle coffee. Of course!
Head to the Outer Sunset to Judah Street. I hadn’t been out there in a while and was craving a trip to General Store (awesome vintage). While out there grab coffee next door at Trouble, a deliciously healthy salad at Judahlicious, and dinner at Outerlands (make a resie! and you must order the burrata and bread to start). Parking is also easier out there so that’s nice. You can also kill time grabbing a beer all within that same block or walk to the beach.
Shop in Noe Valley. Two stores that I like to pop into when I’m in Noe Valley are: The Podolls and Mill Merchantile.
Brunch with friends in Dog Patch. I switched things up from the norm and met my girlfriends in Dog Patch for Sunday brunch at Piccino. Three awesome aspects: 1. it was yummy! 2. they have outside seating for nice sunny days, which isn’t always easy to find in SF and 3. super easy parking. Always a plus if you’re driving. That area has changed so much since I lived in the city so it was fun to get out there and see the changes.
Visit the SF MOMA. Which is just around the corner from the Palace. If it’s a nice day walk across the street for tea or a glass of wine at Samovar and sit outside in Yerba Buena Gardens.
