#10Things May 8

Well one thing I’ve noticed during this sheltering in place are the pieces (clothing-wise) and brands that I truly live in. I have my lounge essentials, easy effortless staples and quality basics pretty covered! Now I’m craving all of the color and find that I’m pulling for more of those special pieces hanging in my closet (or yearning for a chance to wear them again). I’ve been dressing up a bit more in the later afternoons and evenings for dinner… just, you know, to make yourself feel good! And I’m really loving it. Mom-mode in the morning in the comfy attire and then putting on a comfy dress for dinner outside. Actually wearing makeup or a special pair of earrings have all been such mood boosts this week too. One of my girlfriends is challenging herself to wear a dress everyday during the month of May (I definitely don’t own a month’s-worth of dresses but she inspired me to pull out out more of those that I do own).

I also took a bit more time away from social media this week––leaning into making this period feel a bit more vacation-like. Because if we can, why not try to enjoy ourselves and this time a bit more? I opened up books I have been meaning to finish (a few Joan Didion reads)… cooked less… and played harder with Rex and Willow. How are you feeling?

As we head into Mother’s Day weekend I want to send all the love to the moms!! I’ve sure missed mine. xx

A Colorful Summer Purchase

I’m craving all of the color these days and just ordered this Ulla Johnson blouse in mint (I don’t own anything mint and it feels so fresh and summery right now). Ulla Johnson is one of those designers that I typically buy a special piece or two seasonally from and her pieces continue to be some of my most coveted. Also in love with this print and color combination.

Pink Glassware Love

Cinco de Mayo inspired me to pull out a set of pink glasses that I’ve had since college and I’ve been drinking out of them all week. I also own these in clear but love them in the green and pink! They’re that really thick glass that I love… you can give them to kids and serve them at parties and not have to worry about them breaking. Also love this pitcher.

Two Denim Brands To Know

I shared on Instagram two denim brands I’ve recently discovered. 1. B Sides Jeans–they make super cool re-purposed Levi’s (love these). 2. CQY–a new made in LA denim brand from the Creative Director behind AGOLDE denim for 10 years. I’m loving the Icon skinny jean (super comfy with a slight stretch) and the Vinyl boyfriend (a non-stretch selvaged denim). Both are on sale right now.

Jeune Wine Club

My friends behind Jeune Wines officially launched their natural wine club membership along with their bottle shop! (Remember this dinner party celebrating Jeune this past fall?) Oh and they also offer free local delivery.

Dragon Diffusion Bags

I know we’re not carrying bags around on the regular these days but since so many of you have asked me about my Dragon Diffusion bag I bought last summer I thought I’d share that I noticed Shopbop is now carrying the brand. I love mine so much!

To Make | Lemon Olive Oil Cake

Pasta, bread… banana bread… and now olive oil cakes? Everyone seems to be doing it–there’s nothing I love more than my friend Kevin’s Olive Oil cake (recipe here) and now I’m craving baking it even more after spotting Pamela Salzman’s spin on the recipe: Meyer Lemon Olive Oil Almond Cake.

Moroccan Pom Pom Throw

I have a Moroccan throw with pom poms that I use as a picnic blanket and am asked about it often–I could never remember where I got it because it had been so many years–but just stumbled upon some at Elsie Green (and on sale). They’re also great for the end of the bed! Another great option for chic picnic-ing.

Coolest Inflatable Pools | Mylle

Every summer I’m reminded of how crazy hot Sacramento gets and how much I wish we had a pool. Well I just ordered one of these from Mylle for dipping into this summer with Rex and Willow. Aren’t they the cutest inflatable pools you’ve seen?

To Listen | Live To Eat with Jenni Kayne

I enjoyed listening to a couple episodes from the podcast Live to Eat after a reader mentioned I may like the interview with Jenni Kayne and Jennifer Fisher. Turns out she was totally right!
