As mentioned, one of the highlights of being back in New York last week was visiting all of my old neighborhood haunts and thus popping into Otte was a must. I used to live near the West Village location but since I’ve moved, they’ve opened an adorable Nolita boutique that I paid a visit to on this particular day. Now you know succulents are right up my alley so when I learned that Otte had started selling their signature hanging terrariums, my first instinctive reaction was: yes! My second reaction: seriously guys… after I move away?! Because sadly, they’re not available online and would be hard to transport across the states. So of course this got my DIY wheels turning and on my return back to California I decided to make a terrarium of my own. After scouring the internet and visiting my local Target and plant store for supplies, I used this tutorial and am pretty pleased with the outcome. Of course, it’s not nearly as cute as the ones Otte is selling, so if you live in New York please go get one of those and make me insanely jealous. But for those of us who don’t live in NYC, a little DIY will have to do.
So I’m now thinking of making a few more to give as gifts. (Perfect for a hostess or housewarming gift, no?) Plus this post also sparked a few other decor ideas that will be on the blog soon.
