Happy Cinco! As promised, sharing some photos from the taco, tequila and música-filled fiesta I threw for about 25 of my friends this past Saturday night. By far the highlight of the night was Edson Artica and his band–or as my girlfriend Gaby calls him, “the Enrique Iglesias of Sacramento.” When I first told Gaby I wanted to throw a Cinco de Mayo party she told me I HAD to have Edson there. In fact, she called him up right after our convo so once he was booked I realized I had better get to organizing! Edson serenaded us while we went to town on the taco bar and by the time the margaritas hit–the dancing began. Live music in your own backyard was SUCH a treat and so magical. I wish we had made a video for you! I didn’t want the night to end… and just might have to make this an annual thing.
Verdict on the jalapeño and habanero infused margaritas: they were super spicy throat burners in a good way if you love spicy. Most guests said they loved them but a few couldn’t drink more than one… so next time I’d say make a batch of regular margs as well (or take the jalapeños out after just a couple of days) depending on your crowd.
A few of my friends brought their little ones (and brand-new babies) and it was fun to see them dancing around to the music. Love that no inhibition.
