After receiving so many questions about our beauty looks for this wanderlust shoot with BHLDN (which is now live on their site!)… I asked the beauty professional, Priscilla, to give us the low down on how we could create these sultry yet carefree looks on our own! Here are her tips…
Skin | Lately the trend has been all about contouring and highlighting–but I love to focus on adding radiance to the skin. The more radiance, the more youthful the complexion will look. Always make time to hydrate! Before any makeup application, always saturate the skin with moisture. Next find a liquid radiance primer or highlighter and focus on areas with pigmentation to diffuse the unwanted color and shadows. I like to apply radiance enhancers under the eyes to diffuse dark circles. It’s also great on the top of the cheekbones, above the brows, and down the bridge of the nose to create a lifted appearance. Last, to create an illusion of fuller lips, it looks great on the top of the lip line too. Glowing skin looks like healthy skin. Ideal for summer and achieving that carefree, low maintenance, overall vibe that Alicia was going for when styling and putting together the concept for this shoot!

Brows | Groomed brows are very important to enhance the face, and complete this look. The fuller the brow the better! Since most of us do not have full brows due to years of over plucking brow pencils and fillers come in handy. But here’s the catch, filled in brows shouldn’t look drawn in or too boxy. So here’s my trick…I use the Universal Brow Style by Dior because it holds well to the skin (especially if you are active) and it can be softened to look super natural. Draw one sharp line on the bottom of the brow, this is probably where you will have to “create” your own shape. Next, take a bush to blend upwards, moving the color into the rest of the brow. If you need to go back in to fill other gaps, just do quick short strokes to create hair like lines. For those with longer and fuller brows, sometimes a quick comb upward with a brow gel is fabulous all on it’s own too!

Eyes | To get that sultry bedroom eye, it’s all about the smudging and the blending. First, apply a dark chocolate cream shadow on the entire eyelid, stopping at your crease. Now pat a matte deep brown shadow on top of the cream shadow. Make sure to pat the color on with a flat brush (don’t swipe!). Next grab a blending brush to apply a matte beige/taupe tone in your crease. Overlap it just a bit so the dark brown shadow starts to fade. Using your eye socket as a guide, begin blending until it looks soft and subtle at the edges. To soften it even more, blend out the taupe tone with a matte cream shadow. To keep it modern, avoid applying the cream tone directly under the brow, just overlap the beige/taupe tone only.
Lips | Finish this sultry but carefree look a light mauve or light apricot lipstick for the perfect neutral lip. Make sure to apply an anti-aging balm or lip plumper under to hydrate first! If you like a lip liner, apply it over the entire lip area before applying your lipstick.
