These photos were taken just before we got our Christmas tree (and before I killed our fiddle-leaf)… so it’s quite festive in our place now, but I thought I’d share how things are coming along on the home front. Design and decor-wise I like to take my time finding unique pieces with personality and a story, so I can only imagine how long it will take before I feel like our place finally feels finished. (Maybe never?!) But with the mix of furniture we already had, a few pieces we’ve bought, and a few hand-me downs from our families it’s coming together! I’ll be sure to share all the before and after remodel photos once fully furnished–it’s been the ultimate project–but until then I’ll continue sharing sneak peeks (I’ve also been sharing snippets on instagram)!
We painted all the walls white throughout which is bright, airy and zen–yeah, yeah, yeah–but now I’m anxious to fill the walls with memories and personality to make it feel like us. It really wasn’t until my in-laws brought down a few pieces of furniture that had been in their family for years that our place began to feel homey. My husband’s grandparents, Frankie and Gallie, were quite the world travelers and accumulated some super cool pieces over the years that are right up my alley. Their Moroccan side table, lamp, and crazy cool Chinese chair are just a few pieces that have added just the right amount of funk to our place. We also have my relatives’ giant chest that they brought here from Italy. I’m such a fan of mixing old with new when it comes to decor–the layers add such depth to a room.
And! We have a cute little pomegranate and lemon tree! Fun fact, I thought it was a lime tree until just a few weeks ago when they started turning yellow. I even told my guy, “gosh I think our tree grows the world’s largest limes.” Um, blonde brunette moment.
I can’t for the life of me decide where to hang this awesome indigo piece (from St Frank). I thought my office but then moved it into the kitchen where it’s been sitting against the wall for weeks. I’m now thinking the guest room… stay tuned.
