This weekend I ran off to Philadelphia to visit my close girlfriend Tara. In my two plus years on the East Coast I still had not been to this adorably historic city and so I was not only excited to see her, but to also play tourist. Of course, the weekend highlight (for me) was seeing her in her element at her new office—Free People.
Touring the Navy Yard Campus (where Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie are as well) reminded me of my stint working at Pixar just shortly after graduating from college. It was the first job I had working in a creative field and the first office environment that left me in awe every single day. I loved being there and I loved being surrounded by other inspiring, creative types. I would arrive earlier than anyone on my team just to walk around and explore the disneyland-like decorated world of cubes. (Yes, like a total nerd! But you have to see photos of that campus.) It was that job that made me realize switching from a medical career path to a creative one was definitely the right move for me.
I mean… don’t you wish all meetings could be held at the table below?!
I just couldn’t get over these chairs.
Is this not exactly what you would picture the land of Free People to look like?
Lots of color, yarn, and flowers… all under one super cool industrial roof.
